La Ventana Things to Do

Here are some of our favorite things to do in La Ventana, all human-powered outdoor activities!

  • Kiteboarding or Wing Foiling: The wind sports make La Ventana such a popular destination as it can provide some of the best wind conditions and a great beach to launch and land the kite from. Whether you're looking to rent kite gear or take kiteboarding lessons in La Ventana, there are a lot of amazing schools and shops to choose from.
  • Mountain biking in La Ventana: there are 2 different trail systems. El Sargento, north of town. This is a great system with lots of climbing and absolutely epic views from the top. And then there is the Alice and Wonderland of cacti garden mountain biking, south of town. It's a bit sandy in places but suuuper fun. They keep building more and more trails here as well.
  • Hiking or trail running either of the trail systems above. They're dog-friendly trails, remember to bring extra water along for the pups. It can get hot out there and there isn't any water available at the trailheads or on the trails.
  • Snorkeling right off the beach. I love getting out for an early morning SUP and snorkel and swim around to see the sea life. Winds start to kick up around 9 am (enough to not make SUP fun). You can rent SUPs at Playa Central or Latuna. I've found this to be one of the best snorkeling spots so far, there are some other great spots north of the hot springs I hear (but haven't been yet). Contact us to get the beta on the best beaches and we'll share the pin with you.
  • Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Going out for a paddle in the morning before the wind picks up! It's such a great way to peacefully see the town from the water and look back at the mountains. I've seen whales while out paddling and it's one of our favorite things to do in La Ventana.
  • Scuba Diving: We took our Scuba Dive instruction while we waited for the wind! It was the best no-wind 4 days that we spent in La Ventana by far. We got open water PADI certified instead of being down about no wind!
  • Snorkeling tours: We went out on a snorkeling tour in La Ventana and ended up snorkeling and swimming with Orcas while they were hunting Manta Rays! It was out of this world... I missed out.
  • Volunteering at the Baja Pet Rescue. Okay, it's not an outdoor adventure but they're a great group doing great things!
