Zion National Park Kayak Rentals

For those who want to kayak near Zion National Park, renting a kayak is the way to go. Best the heat and take the family for a kayaking trip when you are in Zion. TripOutside features the best, vetted kayak rental shops and guides in the Zion area.

Zion National Park does not have kayak rentals within the park, but there are several spots near Zion where you can rent kayaks right at the lake, and get the same majestic views. The park does provide wilderness permits for the expert kayaker who wants to paddle through The Narrows, but these permits are limited to people with supreme kayaking skills who are prepared to handle Class V rapids.

Kayak Rentals - Where to Go Kayak in Zion

Here are some of our favorite Zion kayak rental spots - you can rent kayaks right at the water!

Quail Creek State Park

Quail Creek State Park reservoir is an incredibly scenic paddle and boasts some of the warmest waters in the state!  Take in the red rock scenery as you paddle quietly around the reservoir.  Dig Paddlesports makes it incredibly convenient - they let you book a kayak rental online and pick up your kayak at the water's edge!  This quiet and stunning reservoir is conveniently located about 45 minutes west of the Springdale entrance to Zion National Park.

Gunlock Reservoir

Gunlock Reservoir is a 266-acre lake fed by the Santa Clara River. This reservoir is less frequented than the other two listed here, making it a wonderful destination for some quiet, uncrowded, easy kayaking. Gunlock Reservoir is a little further west than the other two lakes we’ve listed, requiring about a 1.5 hour drive from Springdale.
