Description

Boston Performance Road Bike Rentals

Ready to feel the rush? Our Performance Road Bike Rentals are built for speed, endurance, and pure cycling joy. Take to Boston’s streets on a race-bred, full-carbon machine designed for riders who want to climb faster, corner tighter, and sprint harder. Whether you’re in town for a race, training session, or just want to keep up your riding routine on vacation, these bikes are your ticket to performance without the hassle of bringing your own.

Our rental fleet includes premium models like the Giant TCR Advanced 2, Specialized Roubaix, and Scott Addict—all carbon, Ultegra-equipped speed machines. Smooth, nimble, and responsive, they’re perfect for tackling longer rides, charity events, or your own self-guided cycling tour. Just pick up your ride during shop hours, clip in (or roll with flats), and let Boston’s roads become your racecourse.

FAQs

Do you rent kid’s bikes?

We don't offer performance bike rentals for kids. You can check out the City Bike rental for kids here.

What happens if I am late for my rental bike reservation?

If you arrive any time during open shop hours on the date of your bike rental, you are not late. You may pick up your bike rental at any time while we are open. Your rental period will begin from the time that you leave the shop. If you have indicated that you’ll arrive at 10am and realize that you will arrive closer to 11am, it’s ok! You do not need to call the shop to let us know – just show up when you can!

Please note: Bikes can only be picked up and dropped off during shop hours. If bikes are returned outside of business hours, a $100 after-hours fee will be charged.

How long is a “full day rental”?

A full day rental is 24 hours from the time you pick up your rental. If you book for a full day rental, you may arrive to pick up your bike at any time during shop hours on the day of your rental. You may return your bike any time up to 24 hours later. Please note: we are not able to provide credits or refunds for unused time.

Can I return my rental after hours?

No, please return your rental at least 30 minutes prior to closing. Customers are charged $100 if they return the rental equipment during our closing hours and are left outside our shop.

Current Business Hours

  • Monday-Saturday: 9-7pm
  • Sunday: 9-5pm
  • Closed daily for siesta from 2-3pm
  • We will be closing at 2pm the first Wednesday of each month (April-October)

What happens if my bike gets stolen during my rental?

If you lock your bike properly and keep it inside overnight as recommended, this is unlikely to happen. However, you are responsible for your bike and all rental equipment once you leave the shop.

What if I get a flat tire?

Flats happen. If you get a flat tire (or other mechanical issue) on one of our rental bikes, you have a few options for getting back on the road or where you need to go:

  1. Fix the Flat. We offer flat kits with all of our rentals, included in the seat pack of our e-bike, road, cyclocross, mountain, and fat bike rentals, and by request for hybrid rentals.
  2. Find the Nearest Bike Shop. There are shops dotted all around the greater Boston area, and any one of them will be able to fix the flat for a small parts and labor fee.
  3. Get the Bike Back to Urban AdvenTours. If you’re close enough to walk, great! Otherwise, you can take the bike on the Red, Orange, and Blue lines during non-peak hours.
  4. Last Resort: Lock your bike and call for pickup. Call us, and we will talk you through locking the bike up properly and get the details of where you’re locking up the bike so we can pick it up later. Please understand that we will charge a pickup fee for retrieving the bike(s).

I really like my rental bike! Can I buy it?

Yes! Please just come back to the shop and ask our staff about pricing.

Can I store my bike at my hotel overnight?

A majority of the local hotels in Boston will allow their guests to store their bicycles in their hotel rooms or they may have a separate storage area for them but it is wise to call them ahead of time to ask and confirm.

Can you deliver a bike to my hotel or residence?

Yes! Please call us at least 48 hours in advance to arrange delivery. ($100 minimum order may apply).

I’ve never ridden a bike before. Is this a good bike to learn on?

If you're just learning, a city bike is a better choice. Check out our city bike rentals here.

If you want to learn to ride a bike, we can direct you to some good locations to learn to ride in, such as the Charles River Esplanade and the Boston Common. Of course, we recommend learning with an experienced rider alongside you!

Where should I go? Can you take me there?

Probably not. We can provide you with a map and basic directions but we simply don’t have the manpower to show every guest the perfect route. Our map is detailed and points you in the right direction!

I want a bike with a rear rack for my panniers and other things.

Not a problem! We have rear rack equipped bikes readily available for rental with a $25 upgrade. However, we are limited in sizing and would recommend reserving ahead of time.

Cancellation Policy

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ - By booking, you are agreeing to accept these terms

Within two weeks of your reserved event, tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE, but may be rescheduled for a $25 fee per ticket based on availability. Customers may cancel penalty-free up to 48 hours after booking, unless the event is within 14 days. We offer 50% refunds for cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the event. Our tours run rain or shine. In some circumstances, tours may be cancelled up to an hour before the start time of the event. The decision to cancel the tour is up to the sole discretion of Urban AdvenTours. If we cancel the event, ticket-holders may choose to reschedule tickets (subject to availability), to receive credit for a future event, or to receive a full refund.

Massachusetts law requires children to be at least 12 months of age while riding along on a bicycle. Children under the age of 12 months will not be allowed on rentals or tours. All children ages 16 and under are required to wear a helmet, and all guests are required to wear a helmet when participating on a UA-guided bike tour.
