About Magic Mountain Resort
Voted a Top 20 US Resort by Ski Magazine, Magic Mountain in southern Vermont is a true classic where skiing still has its soul. Its naturally narrow, twisting trails descend 1,500 vertical feet, offering thrilling tree-skiing and boundary-to-boundary runs for advanced skiers, while the Nelson Family Learning Area provides a safe, structured environment for beginners to develop their skills. With a mix of classic 60’s-era beginner and intermediate trails, steep pitches, and abundant tree runs, Magic delivers varied terrain with minimal lift lines, making it an East Coast gem where every skier and snowboarder can find their challenge — and a little Magic along the way.

How far is Magic Mountain from NYC?

Magic Mountain is about 4.5–5 hours from NYC by bus, making it a great option for a full day or weekend escape to Vermont.

Can I just buy a bus pass without a lift ticket?

Absolutely! Please note that some resorts may require advance reservations.

If you purchase an OvRride package that includes a lift ticket, we will handle the advance reservation for you. These packages include:

  • All Area & Bus
  • All Area, Bus & Board Rental
  • All Area, Bus & Ski Rental

If you purchase an OvRride package that does not include a lift ticket, you will be responsible for making the advance reservation if applicable. This also applies if you have a season pass.(Epic, Ikon, etc.) Please note that not all ski areas will have lift tickets available for purchase on-site. If you do not purchase a lift ticket through OvRride, we recommend checking the ski areas website for their reservation policy.

OvRride packages that DO NOT include lift tickets include:

  • Bus & Board Rental
  • Bus & Ski Rental
  • Bus Only

How does the bus pickup work in the morning?

The times listed are the “Departure” times (meaning this is the time the bus is scheduled to depart that location).

It takes time to load your equipment and check everyone in, so please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to departure to allow time for check-in. A smooth check in process helps ensure you get to the mountain as early as possible.

Can I leave items on the bus?

For day trips, you can leave bags on the bus, although it will be locked up so you won't have any access until the end of the day.

You can also use the lockers at the mountain, and many mountains also have a free bag check.

Can I bring my skis/snowboard on the bus?

Yes, you can bring your skis, snowboard, boots, helmet, etc. on the bus. Larger items like skis, poles, snowboards, and boots will need to be placed in the luggage bays below the bus.

Although not necessary, we encourage you to bring your ski/snowboard gear in a ski/snowboard bag. This will help keep it organized when in the luggage bays and help protect your, as well as other peoples', gear as skis and snowboards have sharp edges.

What if I only need a one way bus ride to or from the mountain?

You’re more than welcome to grab a ride with us up to or a return trip from any of our mountain destinations. You are never obligated to come back with us. There is no distinction between a one way ticket and a round trip ticket.

The bus only rate is based on the value of the seat, so whether you come back with us in the same day or stay at the mountain the cost for a bus only reservation is equivalent to the value of a round trip ticket. If you’re looking to make a reservation for a seat on a bus that is not a day trip bus (i.e. a weekend long trip), this option is available, but this rate may vary.

Please inform your trip leader in the morning that you will not be returning on the bus ride home. We take pride in making sure we don’t abandon any of our customers at the mountain. This will save them the trouble of looking for you at the end of the day and possibly holding up the bus. If you plan on returning to NYC with us on another date, you will need to book that return bus ride separately and email us to let us know of your plan so we know to expect you on the bus ride home.

How do I get my lift ticket?

If you purchase your tickets as part of a package, when we arrive at the mountain on that day, your trip leader will have the tickets preordered, and waiting for you at the mountain. As you exit the bus your trip leader will distribute the appropriate lift tickets that you have ordered. Along with the lift tickets you will also receive vouchers for lessons and/or rental equipment to be redeemed at the mountain if purchased.

We cannot replace any lost lift tickets, rental vouchers or lesson passes. We recommend taking a picture of your lift ticket in case you lose it, especially with RFID lift cards. If the lift ticket is an RFID card, make sure to place in a pocket that is separate from your phone, credit cards and any other magnetic devices. Be sure to take a picture of the front and back of these tickets. In the event you lose your ticket, take this picture back to the ticket window and you will be issued a new lift ticket.

If the lift ticket is the old attachable type, make sure that it is fastened securely in a place that won’t get caught on anything. Some tickets at the mountains have a perforated receipt that you should remove from the ticket and save in a safe place. In the event you lose your ticket, take this receipt back to the ticket window and you will be issued a new lift ticket.

Is alcohol allowed on the bus?

Alcohol is allowed and we generally have some stocked coolers for the ride home provided by our beverage sponsors.

Please be considerate of other guests on the bus when consuming alcohol.

Is there entertainment on the bus?

We have TV's and a DVD player on board, and we keep the good vibes rolling!

You are welcome to use your own personal devices on board but please be considerate of other guests and please wear headphones.

Buses sometimes do have power outlets but it is not guaranteed and not recommended to rely on them to power your personal devices. Bus assignments are made the morning of the trip and therefore we cannot let you know whether there will be power outlets on any given bus in advance.

Please also note that when buses travel through rural areas it is possible you may lose cell phone service.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your day trip, OvRride requires 10 days' notice from the departure date of the trip. This notice must written as an email from the person who made the reservation. No phone calls or other forms of contact via social media, word of mouth, etc. can be honored. Cancellations with sufficient notice will be issued a full refund, or can move the reservation to another day/trip.
