We do. You can add helmets to your rental package or pick one up on a first-come, first-serve basis at the shop. We don’t take reservations for helmets by themselves. Although helmets aren’t required, we strongly recommend them for anyone hitting the slopes.

Yes, you can swap out your skis any time at any Vail Resorts/Epic Mountain Gear location.

One of the biggest benefits of renting gear is that you can swap out your equipment partway through the day if it isn’t working out or conditions change. This guarantees you’re on the right gear with the right fit at all times. Each of the ten resorts that offer rental delivery has at least one on-site rental shop where you can stop in–even after only a few runs–and swap your gear out for something else. The same goes for your kids gear if they’re struggling or don’t feel comfortable. If something feels a little off or not riding well, change it out instead of having your little rippers getting frustrated or begging to head into the lodge early.

Yes, and we welcome it. Pick up your equipment any time after 3 PM and you won’t be charged for that day.

Of course. On the equipment selection page (Step 3) un-check the box by boots when you pick your package. If you forget to pack your boots, they’re available for walk-in rentals on a first-come, first serve basis.

We do, up to size 16 for skis and 15 for snowboards. They’re in demand, so reserve your package in advance to make sure they’re available when you need them.

You can. Stop into any location to swap them out. There may be a price adjustment.

Yes—at participating resorts, you can choose your own skis when booking a demo-level rental through our Pick Your Own Demo experience. This allows you to select a specific ski or snowboard model in advance based on your preferences, ability level, and conditions. 

For sport and performance level rental packages, skis are typically selected for you based on your profile (height, weight, ability level), but you can always work with our team in-store to request adjustments or explore available options. 

Note: Pick Your Own is only available at select locations and may vary based on inventory and availability. The resorts where you can Pick Your Own Demo include: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Whistler Blackcomb, Park City, Crested Butte, Heavenly, Northstar, Stowe, Okemo, and Mount Snow.

When you book a Demo package, you can either pick your own gear or let our experts choose for you. To pick your own, select a Demo package at checkout and choose “Pick Your Own.” You’ll enter some standard renter details (height, weight, shoe size, skier type, and an optional preferred length). You’ll then see the models that match your specs, each with a recommended length, and can select the setup you want. Not sure what to pick? Choose “Let the Experts Choose for Me” and our team will get you into the right model for your skill level and preferences.

Specific brands and models vary by size and location, so the recommended models in your size will only show at checkout after you enter your renter details. Pick Your Own Demo is available for adult gear only and must be reserved at least 2 days in advance.

No, not at this time. Many Epic Mountain Rentals locations have accessories (gloves, goggles, helmets and more) for purchase. For convenient ski rental clothing shipped to you, check out our partners here.

You can rent boots by themselves on a first-come, first-serve basis. We don’t take online reservations. They range from USD $15 to $25 per day. If you bring your own skis and want to rent boots with us, your bindings must meet manufacturer safety requirements. To make sure, we’ll run a functionality test. It costs about $30.

We require a parent or legal guardian to sign a release of liability on behalf of an unaccompanied person younger than 18 years old. Download, complete and print this waiver and send it with your child. They will not be able to participate if the release is not signed. No exceptions.

Kids rentals are great for ages 12 years and under.

The following products are eligible for the 20% Pass Holder discount with Epic Mountain Rewards: Demo skis, Performance skis, Sport skis, Kids skis, Demo Snowboard, Sport Snowboard, and Kids Snowboard, Helmets, and Boots. Rental packages (skis or snowboard with boots and a helmet) and Delivery are also eligible for the 20% discount. The discount does not apply to damage waivers or facility fees. The 20% Epic Pass holder discount on rentals can be used at the time of booking. Pass holders must log in to their account to book online to receive the 20% discount. The equipment rental discount is only valid when booking directly with a Vail Resorts owned and operated location.

Yes, your 20% Epic Mountain Rewards discount applies whether you pick up your rentals in-store or choose delivery.

The factors that determine the release setting on your ski bindings include your height, weight, age, boot sole length, and your personal release preference. You are responsible for determining your own release preference based upon the chart below and for informing the ski shop technician of your preference. Your ski shop technician cannot make this determination for you. Be sure to provide accurate information regarding your height, weight, age and personal release preference. Errors may increase your risk of injury.

Type I: Entry-level skiers who are uncertain of their preference. Entry-level skiers and skiers who designate themselves as Type I receive lower than average ski binding release settings. This corresponds to easier ski binding release in a fall.

Type II: Most skiers are satisfied with a Type II setting. Skiers who designate themselves as Type II receive average ski binding release settings appropriate for most recreational skiing.

Type III: Skiers who designate themselves as Type III receive higher than average release settings. This corresponds to decreased risk of inadvertent binding release and increased risk of non-release. This classification is not recommended for skiers 47 lbs. (21 kg) and under.

If from experience, you have been dissatisfied with the release settings that result from your release preference, mention this to your binding ski shop technician.

Yes. Condos and vacation homes, too. Choose delivery when ordering online at select resorts and we’ll bring the gear to you. We currently offer rental delivery at Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Crested Butte. Heavenly, Keystone, Northstar, Park City, Vail and Whistler Blackcomb
