Nestled not too far away from the charming town of Todos Santos, Cerritos Beach is a hidden gem on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. This picturesque beach has become a haven for surfers and beachgoers alike. Here are some reasons to visit Cerritos Beach for a surfing trip.

The Beauty of Cerritos Beach

Cerritos Beach is renowned for its natural beauty. Visitors are greeted with velvet-soft sand and crystal-clear, warm Pacific ocean waters. Whether you’re an experienced surfer or a beginner, this beach has something for everyone. Julie and I embarked on an unforgettable RV’ing adventure in early 2023 which landed us in Cerritos Beach for a week, a hidden gem on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Our trip was filled with surfing lessons and sun-soaked bliss, all thanks to the fantastic lessons we took from West Side Surf School.

Sun Safety Warning

While Cerritos Beach offers sun-soaked bliss, it’s crucial to protect your skin from the strong sun. The sun reflects off the water and the sand enough to burn, even if you’re under an umbrella and have applied sunscreen. Use a high SPF, wear SPF swimwear if you have it, and reapply every two hours minimum. I personally prefer to wear long-sleeved SPF shirts and a large sunshade hat to prevent sun exposure.

Surfing Paradise

Cerritos Beach is a haven for surfers, especially beginners. The waves are fun but not dangerous, making it an ideal spot to learn to surf. Julie and I got our asses kicked! Surfing is by far the hardest activity that I’ve ever tried but the instructors made it fun and were able to get us standing on the board within the first session. There are multiple places to rent surfboards, we have partnered and West Side Surf Shop for their friendly service and excellent surfboard rentals and with Sanjos Shop for their custom lessons and trips.

Family-Friendly and Scenic

Cerritos Beach is also known for being family-friendly. With cool, kid-friendly waters and an abundance of surf schools offering lessons, it’s a perfect destination for families. The beach is also close to Todos Santos downtown, making it easily accessible.

West Side Surf School

Cerritos Surfing

Playa Los Cerritos, affectionately known as Cerritos Beach, has transformed into a thriving surf haven on the Baja California Peninsula. Despite its growing popularity among surfers, the welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the line-up remains unchanged. This unique blend of surf culture makes Cerritos Beach an ideal destination, especially for beginners.

With its warm waters, sandy bottom, and consistent waves, Playa Los Cerritos offers the perfect setting for surfers of all levels. Whether you favor a longboard or a shortboard, you’ll find a wave that suits your style. Plus, you can bring your own board or rent one right at the beach. Cerritos Beach promises rideable waves and the company of fellow surf enthusiasts nearly every day. So, if you’re seeking a remarkable surf experience in Baja, come catch the waves at Cerritos Beach.”

Cerritos Surfing Lessons

If you’re looking for an unforgettable surfing experience, West Side Surf School comes highly recommended. Visitors have praised Tacho and Franc for their expert instruction, patience, and dedication to making the experience enjoyable. The school provides all the necessary equipment, including surfboards, rash guards, beach chairs, and umbrellas.

Cerritos Surfboard Rentals and More

Even if you’re not taking lessons, you can rent surfboards and enjoy a day riding the waves. Armando at West Side Surf Shop is mentioned as a friendly and knowledgeable person to consult for rentals and advice. Their selection of boards and helpful advice is appreciated by visitors.

The Best Place to Rent a Surfboard in Cerritos

Multiple surfers shared with us that West Side Surf Shop is the go-to place for renting surfboards. Tacho, the owner, is known for offering great deals, especially for longer rentals. They also have Wi-Fi and a convenient location right as you enter Cerritos Beach.

With its natural beauty, excellent surfing conditions, and friendly surf schools and rental shops, Cerritos Beach is indeed a slice of paradise on the Pacific Coast. Whether you’re a seasoned surfer or a first-timer, Cerritos Beach promises an unforgettable experience. So, pack your sunscreen, get your surfboard, and head to this idyllic beach for a day of sun, sand, and surf.
