The surf here is some of the best on the Baja peninsula, and there are a ton of different breaks in the area to check out. It's an excellent place for beginners to learn, with perfect swells and far fewer people than other surfing beaches in Cabo. Many times you will have the beach to yourself!

Taking a surfing lesson will ensure you experience the best breaks in the area, plus you can brush up on your skills or learn to surf for the first time. Surfing can be a challenging sport to try to learn on your own and there are a lot of safety factors involved. We have partnered with Bernardo at La Fortuna to bring you the best-in-class surfing experience near Cabo at La Fortuna Beach. Bernardo's vibe is exactly what you would expect from someone who wakes up at 3 am sometimes to catch the waves by 6 AM so that he is perfectly on time to meet you for your lesson. Surfing with Bernardo in Baja isn't just a lesson, it's as if you are learning surfing from your friend.

Duration

Lessons typically last 2–3 hours, which includes instruction on the beach, safety briefing, paddling practice, and plenty of time catching waves.

La Fortuna Surf School is conveniently located right on La Fortuna Beach on the East Cape of Baja. It's location just 30 minutes from Cabo seems a world away from the busier beaches down south. There are several different beaches and breaks near the shop that are perfect for learning to surf. Depending on the conditions of the day and your previous surfing experience, Bernardo will select the best option for you.

Ages & Requirements

• All ages welcome, but guests must be comfortable in the ocean and able to swim confidently
• Ideal for beginners to intermediate surfers; instruction is tailored to your ability and comfort level
• Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• Guests should be in basic good physical condition and able to paddle, balance, and move safely in and out of the surf

What to Bring / Wear

• Comfortable swimwear to wear under your wetsuit
• Towel and a change of clothes for after your lesson
• Sun protection: reef-safe sunscreen, hat, sunglasses for before/after your session
• Water bottle to stay hydrated (surfing is more workout than people expect!)
• Cash or card for snacks, surf photos, or gratuity
• Optional: rash guard, waterproof phone pouch, personal snacks
