Description
Zion National Park E-Bike Rental with Narrows Dry Bib Rental Package
The package bundles a Specialized® e-bike (with all standard bike accessories) with Narrows dry bib gear—equipment specifically designed for hiking through the Virgin River. Dry bibs are waterproof from the ankles to the armpits, keeping your lower body dry while you wade through the river. They're ideal for cooler conditions and shoulder seasons (roughly mid-fall through mid-spring) when the river is cold but air temperatures are manageable. In summer, the Footwear Package may be a better fit—staff will help you make the right call at pickup based on current conditions.
The Zion Narrows Bottom-Up route begins at the Temple of Sinawava (the last stop on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive) and follows the Virgin River through towering 1,500-foot (457 m) walls. Hikers wade through the river for the majority of the hike—with water ranging from ankle-deep to waist-deep depending on season and flow. It's one of the most dramatic landscapes in the American Southwest, and doing it after riding an e-bike through the canyon makes for an unforgettable full day.

What is the Narrows hike like?
The Zion Narrows Bottom-Up hike begins at the Temple of Sinawava and follows the Virgin River through a narrow slot canyon for as far as you choose to go. There's no fixed turnaround—most hikers go 1–2 miles (1.6–3.2 km) in before heading back, though you can continue further if conditions and time allow. The canyon walls narrow to just 20–30 feet (6–9 m) wide at certain points, with 1,500-foot (457 m) sandstone walls rising on both sides.
Why do I need specialized gear for the Narrows?
The Virgin River flows over slippery, uneven sandstone—regular hiking boots offer poor grip and get ruined quickly in the water. Canyon-specific boots have grippy, draining soles designed precisely for this terrain. Neoprene socks keep feet warm even when wet. The wooden walking stick is sturdier than trekking poles in fast-moving water and helps with balance and checking depth.
When should I use dry bibs vs. just the footwear package?
Dry bibs are recommended from approximately October 1st through mid-May, when water temperatures drop significantly. Staff monitor current river conditions and will help you choose the right package on the day of your rental.
Can I pick up my Narrows gear the evening before?
Yes—if your sizes are available, you're welcome to pick up Narrows gear the evening before your hike to allow for an early start. Check with the shop to confirm availability, especially during busy periods.
What if I want to upgrade to a dry suit instead of dry bibs?
If conditions call for a full dry suit (especially in deep winter), you're welcome to select a dry suit or upgrading at pickup. Dry suits have gaskets at both the ankles and wrists, providing maximum protection regardless of water depth.
Can I put my e-bike on the park shuttle?
No—e-bikes are not permitted on the Zion National Park shuttle. You'll ride the Scenic Drive both directions, or ride in and coast back down.
