FAQs

3-Day Yosemite National Park Itinerary

Experience the very best of Yosemite National Park over three days of guided adventure. Each day combines hiking, sightseeing, swimming, and outdoor dining with expert local guides, giving you an immersive and stress-free way to explore the park’s High Country, Valley, and Hetch Hetchy regions. Seasonal variations, including snowshoeing in winter, ensure that every adventure is tailored to the time of year and your group’s preferences.

Day 1 | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Pick-up from your hotel or campsite for an amazing day exploring Yosemite’s High Country. Highlights include:

  • Hike into the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias
  • Swimming at Tenaya Lake
  • Picnic in Tuolumne Meadows

Winter Note: In winter months, the day begins at noon as Yosemite’s high country road is closed. Guests will explore the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias using snowshoes.

Day 2 | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM A spectacular private adventure in Yosemite Valley, featuring:

  • Hiking and sightseeing
  • Swimming in Yosemite’s famous spots
  • Steak BBQ dinner along the Merced River

Day 3 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM The adventure concludes in Hetch Hetchy Valley with

  • A 5-mile round-trip public hike along the granite reservoir to Wapama Falls (1,200 ft)
  • Optional extended hike to Rancheria Falls for those who want to go further
  • Hearty hiker’s lunch and a leisure hike back

Can I customize the itinerary?

Yes! Private tours can be tailored to your group’s pace and interests, including shorter or longer hikes, extra stops for photos, or additional swimming opportunities.

What level of hiking experience is needed?

While moderate fitness is recommended, guides adjust the pace for all participants. Some hikes are strenuous, so guests should be prepared for elevation changes and uneven terrain.

Is cell service available?

Service is very limited in Yosemite, especially in High Country and Hetch Hetchy. This is a great opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the scenery.

Is the Yosemite Explorer Package available in winter?

Yes! The Yosemite Explorer Package is available year-round, including winter.

  • Winter adjustments: Some high-country roads are closed, so the itinerary is slightly modified. For example, the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias is explored with snowshoes instead of the usual hiking trail.
  • Other winter considerations: Lower-elevation areas like Yosemite Valley and Hetch Hetchy remain fully accessible, so Days 2 and 3 proceed as usual with hiking, sightseeing, and riverside activities.

Will you pick me up at my hotel?

We'll pick you up anywhere along Highway 120, between Groveland, CA and the Yosemite National Park entrance. If you are staying on Highway 140 near El Portal or Highway 41 near Oakhurst, then we'll find the most accessible place to meet you based on the adventure you choose! Don't worry; we'll work with you, and provide maps and directions!

Do you include lunch on your adventures?

All of our all inclusive packages, backpacking adventures and full day whitewater rafting trips include lunch, and we offer a low cost, customizable lunch Add-Ons for all of our day tours and adventures!

Typically, you cannot buy lunh on the tours. We encourage you to buy a Custom Hiker’s Lunch or bring a bag lunch, so we can spend as much time as possible enjoying the National Park.

Can I cancel if it's raining?

Our philosophy is there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing! That being said, we will cancel and refund tours if it is dangerous to operate - which is incredibly rare. For those fair weather hikers, we recommend the Easy Cancelation Rate! You can also double check that your travel insurance will cover guest cancelations.

Do we need a Yosemite reservation?

Nope! We will cover your reservation and entrance fee into Yosemite on the day you are with us. If you want to go in on your own, then make sure you know the rules!
