Description

Guided Hiking in Yosemite National Park - Private & Small-Group Year-Round Summit Hikes

Experience Yosemite from above on a collection of seasonal summit hikes designed to showcase the park’s most breathtaking viewpoints throughout the year. From snow-covered winter vistas to high-alpine summer summits, these guided adventures offer unparalleled perspectives of Yosemite Valley, the High Country, and the Eastern Sierra.
Each hike is carefully selected based on seasonal conditions to provide the best possible experience at that time of year. Routes may be completed as traditional hikes or, during winter months, as snowshoe adventures when conditions require. Whether you’re chasing sweeping valley views, standing eye-to-eye with Half Dome, or exploring rarely traveled peaks, these summit hikes deliver Yosemite at its most awe-inspiring.
Trips are offered as small-group experiences or private adventures. Private tours allow for customized pacing, route selection, and group composition, making them ideal for families, mixed-ability groups, or hikers seeking a more personalized experience.

Duration

Summit hike durations vary by route, season, and group pacing. Most adventures range from 6 to 10 hours, including transportation, hiking time, scenic stops, and breaks for rest and lunch. Private hikes may be adjusted to accommodate longer or shorter itineraries based on the chosen route and group needs.

Ages & Requirements

These summit hikes are recommended for guests ages 12 and older due to the distance, elevation gain, and sustained physical effort required. Routes range from moderate to extremely strenuous and often include steep climbs, high elevation, uneven terrain, and exposed viewpoints.
Private hikes are available for families with younger children, allowing for customized pacing, route selection, and expectations. That said, summit hikes are not appropriate for all children, and suitability depends on the individual child’s hiking experience, comfort with exposure, and endurance. Our guides are happy to help assess whether a particular summit is a good fit and, when needed, recommend an alternative route that still delivers incredible Yosemite views without committing to a full summit.
All participants should be in good physical condition, comfortable hiking for several miles, and prepared for changing mountain weather. During winter months, routes may require snowshoeing depending on conditions.
