Rehoboth Bay Windsurfing Lessons at Dewey Beach

Learn to windsurf on the calm, warm waters of Rehoboth Bay with our hands-on, two-hour lessons in Dewey Beach. Perfect for beginners, each lesson includes a certified instructor and all the gear you’ll need, including stable windsurfable paddle boards that make learning fun and easier. By the end of class, you’ll be able to pull up the rig (uphaul), sail on a beam reach, steer, and turn with confidence.

Lessons are offered in small public groups of two or more, or as a private session for one person, giving you personalized guidance tailored to your skill level. This flexible format ensures that whether you’re learning with friends, family, or on your own, you get the support you need to progress safely and confidently.

You’ll meet your instructor on-site behind the Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel, just steps from the water. Reservations are required, and we’ll provide guidance on the best days and times based on wind conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Bring your swimsuit, towel, water, and sunscreen, and get ready to discover the thrill of windsurfing on one of Delaware’s most accessible and scenic bays.

Delmarva Board Sports Watersports Concession

You'll meet your instructor at our concession behind the Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel. This central Dewey Beach location offers quick, direct access to calm Rehoboth Bay waters.

Use the Park Mobile App in season, and please do not back in to your parking space to avoid getting a ticket.

Ages & Requirements

Minimum Age: 8 years old
Minimum Weight: 100 lbs
Windsurfing can be a strenuous activity. Participants should have a good level physical fitness to participate. It is not recommended for weak participants or those with bad backs, ankles or knees.
Children and teens are welcome, and parents can stay on site with younger participants.

Is there a minimum number of guests required?

We require a minimum of 2 people during June, July, and August. If you don't have the minimum number of people, we may be able to combine you with another group or upgrade to a private lesson.

What skill level do I need for this lesson?

No prior windsurfing experience is required. This lesson is designed for beginners and first-time windsurfers, with instruction tailored to your pace and ability.

Can I take a private windsurfing lesson at Dewey Beach?

Yes! Private lessons are available for one person, offering one-on-one guidance to help you progress faster and focus on your personal goals.

What will I learn in the lesson?

You’ll get hands-on instruction in pulling up the sail (uphaul), steering, turning, and sailing confidently on a beam reach. Lessons are tailored to your pace, so you can build skills and confidence on the water.

What is it like on Rehoboth Bay?

The bay offers calm, protected waters with scenic views behind Dewey Beach. It’s perfect for learning without the pressure of open-ocean waves, letting you focus on technique and enjoying the ride.

Cancellation Policy

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours advanced notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, such as group size failing to meet minimum requirements. If you reschedule due to weather, we consider this a new booking and 24 hours notice is required to cancel a reschedule. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.

We do not give pro-rated refunds or credits if you choose to not use your full time. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, there are no refunds.

Customers who purchase travel protection at the time of their booking must cancel before 3 hours prior to your experience.
