Wildlife Guidelines
Please be respectful of all wildlife encountered during the tour. Never chase, harass, feed, or touch any wild animals including manatees, dolphins, turtles, alligators, or birds. Manatees are federally protected — touching them is illegal and can result in significant fines. If a manatee approaches, use the "Freeze and Float" method: remain still and let the animal interact on its own terms.
Your guide will share responsible wildlife viewing practices before and throughout the tour.

FAQs
What is included in a private tour that isn't on the public tours?
On a private tour, the entire experience is reserved exclusively for your group — no other guests. Your guide will paddle at your pace, spend more time at wildlife hotspots, and explore areas of the river not typically visited on public tours. Children under 3 are also welcome on private tours, unlike public tours. A drone photo and video package can also be added.
How many people can join a private tour?
Private tours can accommodate groups of up to 20 people. Parties of up to 14 can book directly online; groups larger than 14 should call to confirm availability and logistics.
Can I book a private tour for a special occasion?
Absolutely. Private tours are a popular choice for bachelorette parties, family reunions, birthday celebrations, anniversary dates, and corporate outings. Your guide will take plenty of photos throughout the tour, and a drone photo/video package can be added for an extra-special memento.
Can we choose the time of our private tour?
Private tours offer more flexibility on timing than public tours. Daytime, sunset, and glow formats may be available depending on the season.
Is there parking available?
Yes, parking is available at Mary's Fish Camp. Please follow the designated parking signs for the kayak tour area, then follow the signs on foot to the kayak launch where you'll meet your guide.
What are the weight limits for the kayaks?
Clear kayaks have stricter weight limits than traditional kayaks due to their unique materials and shape. The maximum weight is 250 lbs (113 kg) per person and no more than 425 lbs (193 kg) combined weight per tandem kayak.
Are the kayaks tandem or solo?
All kayaks are tandem (designed for 2 paddlers). Parties with an even number of guests will share kayaks. If your group has an odd number of paddlers, the seats are removable and the kayak can be configured for a single paddler — the 250 lb (113 kg) per-person limit still applies.
What experience level is required?
All skill levels are welcome. That said, kayaking can be physically demanding — wind, tides, and weather can all affect the difficulty of the paddle. Adults kayaking with a child or paddling solo will do all the work and should have moderate fitness. Beginners are welcome.
What certifications do the guides hold?
Guides hold Florida Master Naturalist designations (Advanced and standard), Guardian Guide certification through the Save the Manatee Club, CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association, and ACA (American Canoe Association) certification. Guides are also active volunteers with Eagle Watch, Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch, and Florida Springs advocacy.
Does the outfitter have a sustainability focus?
Yes. A portion of every tour is donated to manatee conservation, and guides actively participate in Florida Springs advocacy, Eagle Watch, and other conservation programs. Guests are educated on Leave No Trace principles and responsible wildlife viewing throughout the tour.
What wildlife might we see?
The Weeki Wachee River and its estuary are home to a wide variety of Florida wildlife including manatees, dolphins, bald eagles, ospreys, alligators, raccoons, otters, deer, bears, turtles, rays, pelicans, herons, and a variety of fish species. Wildlife sightings are common but never guaranteed.
