Description

A full day group or private course for anyone that wants to start climbing on their own!

Ages 8+

About

This class is a perfect introduction to beginning to climb on your own. It will build on the basic safety and movement skills you have acquired climbing occasionally or in the gym. The goal is to learn the most up to date techniques and technical skills to allow you to construct anchors, set up/take down top ropes and begin climbing outside on your own is a single pitch setting.

Taught by certified AMGA Rock or Single Pitch Instructors. The AMGA is the premier US organization and the only internationally recognized certifying body for Rock, Alpine and Ski Mountaineering guides.

Topics Covered

Review: We will review and expanded upon your knowledge of the following.

  • Knots
  • Communication
  • Belaying
  • Movement

Anchors: We will discuss and build anchors from the most commonly found components in Utah.

  • Fixed Hardware‚ bolts, chains, rap hangers, cold shuts.
  • Trees‚ When, why and how big
  • Natural features‚ Boulders, flakes, horns
  • Extensions‚ how and why

Cleaning/transitions: We will discuss and practice taking down climbs, your options and why.

  • Lowering
  • Rappelling

Leading: We will introduce the elements involved to safely lead bolt protected routes.

  • Clipping
  • Movement and efficiency
  • Route finding

Equipment

  • What is needed, what is not
  • Selection, proper use, storage and life expectancy

General

  • Use of guidebooks, topos, climbing grades

Payments
- A deposit of 50% is due at time of reservation.
- 7 days prior: 100% of the trip total is due and will be charged to the card on file.

Cancellation
- 8 days or more prior to departure: Full refund!
- 7 days or less to departure: 100% of the trip total is nonrefundable and can not be rescheduled.

Large Groups (14 or more)

Payments
- A deposit of 50% is due at time of reservation
- 14 days prior: 100% of the trip total is due and will be charged to the card on file

Cancellation
- 15 days or more prior to departure: Full refund
- 14 days or less to departure: 100% of the trip total is nonrefundable

Red River Adventures (RRA) reserves the right to cancel any trip due to weather, insufficient bookings, or other circumstances beyond our control at any time. We will make every effort to reschedule.

If a reschedule isn’t possible, bookings canceled by RRA will receive a full refund.


Weather Policy

Weather is an unavoidable part of the dynamic environment we operate in. Conditions may not always be ideal.

  • If RRA determines conditions are suitable for your activity but you choose to cancel or discontinue, the trip will end at your request — no refund.
  • If RRA determines conditions are unsafe, we may alter the itinerary. This could include shortening the route, changing the venue, or canceling the remainder of your trip.

Refund Breakdown for RRA-Ended Trips:

  • Less than halfway complete: 50% of the trip fee is charged.
  • Halfway or more complete: Full trip fee is charged.
