Description
Vine Trail Discovery E-Bike Tour in Napa Valley
The Napa Valley Vine Trail is one of the great cycling routes in California — a paved, car-free path winding through protected agricultural land with views of vineyards stretching to the mountains in every direction. The Vine Trail Discovery Tour is a guided e-bike adventure that trades winery stops for miles of trail, rolling north from St. Helena through some of the most iconic vineyard scenery in the valley. You'll cover approximately 16 miles (26 km) along the Napa Valley Vine Trail, winding through private vineyard parcels with an unmatched "biking through the vineyards" experience that no road tour can replicate. Highlights along the route include the Welcome to Napa Valley sign, Castello di Amorosa (aka The Castle winery), and Bothe State Park, before arriving in the charming town of Calistoga for one hour of free time to explore shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms on your own.
Your guide brings the ride to life with local knowledge of the valley's history, wine families, and landscape — and for guests who want more saddle time, there's an optional 8-mile (13 km) extension along one of the quietest country back roads in the valley. This is also the only guided tour that welcomes guests ages 12 and up with an accompanying adult, making it the best option for families who want a shared Napa Valley experience on two wheels.
Duration
4 hours (10:00am to 2:00pm). Optional 8-mile (13 km) extension available for those who want to continue riding after the Calistoga free hour.

FAQs
What is the Napa Valley Vine Trail?
The Napa Valley Vine Trail is a paved, car-free trail for cyclists and pedestrians that winds through the heart of the valley. The St. Helena to Calistoga segment opened in August 2024 and offers a world-class biking through the vineyards experience past Castello di Amorosa, Bothe State Park, and the iconic Welcome to Napa Valley sign.
Does this tour include a winery stop?
The Vine Trail Discovery tour is focused on the trail riding experience and scenic route rather than structured winery visits. Several wineries along the trail welcome walk-ins, making it easy to stop at your own pace.
Do I need prior e-biking experience?
No experience is necessary. The tour route is designed for casual riders and follows mostly flat to gently rolling terrain. The e-bikes include four levels of pedal assist, so even guests who haven't ridden in years find the pace very manageable. If you're nervous about your fitness level, this tour is built for you.
What is the Napa Valley Wine Tour?
The Napa Valley Vine Trail is a paved, car-free path designed for cyclists and pedestrians that will eventually span 47 miles from Vallejo to Calistoga. The section between St. Helena and Calistoga — the newest segment, opened in August 2024 — winds through private vineyard parcels thanks to easements granted by 15 landowners, offering a riding experience that isn't possible on any public road. The route is mostly flat, with a few mild rolling hills between St. Helena and Calistoga.
