FAQs
Is this tour good for beginner riders and young children?
Yes! This is our family-friendly option among our Boston bike tours and rides about 75% on bike paths. However, guests should be comfortable riding in a bike lane alongside light traffic.
Does this tour go into Harvard Square?
No. The tour rides by Harvard’s campus on a bicycle path, but the tour does not enter Harvard Square due to the heavy traffic there.
Is this tour suitable for kids?
Yes! This tour is designed specifically for families, including those with young children and riders who aren’t as confident on bikes. Child seats and trail-a-bikes are available, but Burley trailers and tandem bikes are not permitted.
Is it a difficult ride?
Not at all. This is a relaxing ride that takes place mostly on flat, paved bike paths, with only light city riding (75% paths, 25% road).
How far will we be biking?
The route covers under 10 miles.
Where does the tour go?
You’ll bike along the Charles River, see the Esplanade, Hatch Shell, Zakim Bridge, and stop at the Charlestown Navy Yard to visit the USS Constitution.
Can we upgrade to an electric bike?
Yes, for an additional fee. Just note that e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old and 5 ft tall.
Can we leave bags or jackets somewhere during the tour?
Yes, luggage, large bags, and bulky jackets can be left at the shop.
What if we’re running late?
Tours depart on time. You must arrive 30 minutes early for check-in and bike fitting. Late arrivals will not be rescheduled, caught up, or refunded.
Is the tour refundable if we cancel?
No. All bookings are non-refundable. However, you may reschedule for a $25 rebooking fee, or receive credit to use on future tours or rentals.
Cancellation Policy
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ - By booking, you are agreeing to accept these terms
Within two weeks of your reserved event, tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE, but may be rescheduled for a $25 fee per ticket based on availability. Customers may cancel penalty-free up to 48 hours after booking, unless the event is within 14 days. We offer 50% refunds for cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the event. We cannot refund cancellations made within 14 days of an event because your space must be reserved.
Rescheduling requests are subject to availability and are processed at the sole discretion of the employee making the transaction. Rescheduling requests received within 14 days of the event are subject to a fee of $25 per ticket to reschedule. Reservations may be rescheduled only once.
Failure to arrive 30 minutes before your tour’s departure time will result in your space on tour being given away. You will not receive a refund or credit for your tour. Late arrivals will not be caught up to the tour.
Our tours run rain or shine. In some circumstances, tours may be cancelled up to an hour before the start time of the event. The decision to cancel the tour is up to the sole discretion of Urban AdvenTours. If we cancel the event, ticket-holders may choose to reschedule tickets (subject to availability), to receive credit for a future event, or to receive a full refund.
Massachusetts law requires children to be at least 12 months of age while riding along on a bicycle. Children under the age of 12 months will not be allowed on rentals or tours. All children ages 16 and under are required to wear a helmet, and all guests are required to wear a helmet when participating on a UA-guided bike tour.
