Joining the Tour Waitlist

By joining the waitlist, you show interest in joining the tour, but it doesn't guarantee a spot. Our team will contact you when an opening becomes available, which may take hours or days—there's no set timeframe since openings depend on cancellations.

Cancellations Are Not Guaranteed

Cancellations or booking changes do happen but are unpredictable and often last-minute. We recommend keeping your phone close by and responding quickly if a spot opens. Thank you for your patience as we work to accommodate everyone on the waitlist.

Glowing Bay Adventure - Bioluminescent Kayak Tour Details

Join a paddling adventure with us through an enchanted mangrove forest that leads to Laguna Grande, where you will witness the unique natural phenomenon called Bioluminescence, a light produced by a living organism. This microscopic plankton named Pyrodinium bahamense is responsible for the Glowing Bay Adventure.
As you paddle through calm waters under the night sky, tiny bursts of bioluminescent light appear with each stroke of the paddle. This laid-back tour gives you a chance to see nature's quiet light show up close, a unique sight you can only find in certain coastal spots. It's a peaceful and memorable way to spend an evening on the water, surrounded by the natural glow of bioluminescent plankton.
Please remember that bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, and the intensity (brightness) is unpredictable and may vary from one day to another. On days when light pollution is high, we use a tarp to eliminate and/or block the illumination of the moon, allowing us to appreciate bioluminescence better.

Is swimming a requirement for the tour?

Rest assured, knowing how to swim is not required for the tour. We prioritize your safety and provide everyone with life jackets. Additionally, the water canal we paddle through is mainly 3 to 5 feet deep, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience.

How stable are the kayaks? Is there a weight limit?

Tandem kayaks are much wider and extremely stable, designed to prevent tipping over. To ensure safety, they have a weight limit of 225 lbs (102kg) per person. — When loaded to its maximum capacity, the kayak will lose stability and maneuverability if the weight limit is exceeded. That is why it’s important not to overload a kayak beyond its weight capacity.

Is it okay to bring our dog along?

We adore pets, but unfortunately, our kayaks are not set up to accommodate our furry friends. This is primarily for their safety and to ensure a comfortable experience for all participants.

Do you offer single kayaks?

No, all of our kayaks are two-seater kayaks. In this case, all odd-numbered groups or solo kayakers will be paired up during the tour.

How do we navigate and see at night?

Our night tours are guided, and we provide low-intensity nighttime navigation lights to ensure you can see and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

What happens to the tour if it rains?

We monitor the weather closely. Light rain won’t stop us, but if conditions become unsafe, we will reschedule or refund your tour.

Weather Policy: If you choose not to attend without prior cancellation notice, you will be charged if the adventure proceeds. Tour cancellations may occur at the last minute or on-site.

Is bioluminescense always visible?

Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon with varying intensity, and light pollution can affect visibility. When needed, a tarp is used to reduce light from the moon or artificial sources, as an extra step to help better appreciate the bioluminescence.

When is the best time to see bioluminescence?

The bioluminescent intensity depends on weather conditions such as rain, tide, moon phase, sunlight and many other natural factors out of our control. Ideally, the best time to visit is around the new moon and during the dry months, December to March with a midsummer dry season June to July.
