Paddle Siesta Key’s Hidden Waterways at Your Own Pace

Siesta Key is famous for its white sand beaches — but the real magic is just off the shoreline. Kayaking SRQ’s three-hour self-guided rental puts you in the water with a map and lets you explore the crystal-clear bays, hidden alcoves, and coastal mangroves of one of Florida’s most beautiful barrier islands at your own pace. No guide, no schedule — just you and the water.

Kayaking SRQ is a family-owned operation run by Greg and Kim Gregory, who have been sharing their love of Sarasota Bay for years. Greg grew up exploring these mangrove tunnels as a kid, and that local knowledge runs through everything they do. Staff are on hand at launch to get you set up, answer questions, and point you toward the best spots depending on conditions that day. You’ll head out with a map and a sense of adventure.

Choose from single kayaks, tandem kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards — all included at the same rental rate. Beginners and experienced paddlers alike will find the protected waters of Siesta Key easy and rewarding to navigate.

Cancellation Policy

Full refund with at least 48 hours notice. Cancellations within 48 hours will receive a gift card for a future visit. No-shows are charged the full amount and are not eligible to reschedule or receive a gift card.

Is this a guided tour or a self-guided rental?

This is a self-guided rental. You’ll be set up by knowledgeable staff at launch who will answer questions and give you a map. From there, you paddle at your own pace and explore on your own. If you’d prefer a guided experience, Kayaking SRQ also offers guided mangrove tunnel tours.

Can I choose between a kayak or a paddleboard?

Yes. Single kayaks, tandem kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards are all available. Staff at launch will help you decide which is the best fit based on your experience and group size.

Do I need paddling experience?

No experience needed. The waters around Siesta Key are calm and protected, making them ideal for first-timers. Staff will get you oriented before you head out.

What wildlife might we see?

Siesta Key’s coastal waters are home to a variety of birds, fish, jellyfish, and shells. Manatee and dolphin sightings are possible depending on the season — April through December is the best window for manatees.

What is the weather policy?

The safety of guests comes first. In light rain, rentals proceed as normal. In the event of thunder and lightning, the team will wait for conditions to improve or reschedule. If a session has to be cancelled, a reschedule or full refund will be offered.

Cancellation Policy

Customers will receive a full refund with a 48 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellations within 48 hours of a scheduled rental or tour, we will reschedule the reservation at no additional cost to the customer, but no refund will be issued. Contact us by phone at (941) 799-1863 to cancel and reschedule. No-shows will be charged the full price, will not be given the opportunity to reschedule, and will not receive a gift card to return. No exceptions.
