The Numbers Rafting + Zipline Adventure

Brace yourself for an action-packed ride through one of Colorado’s most thrilling stretches of whitewater! The Numbers is one of the most difficult sections of commercially rafted rivers in Colorado. Although this section winds its way through an awesome high alpine setting, you'll probably be too busy paddling to even notice! This section is narrow, rocky, and technical with relentless drops and continuous whitewater!

As soon as you put in, the river wastes no time picking up speed, throwing you straight into a gauntlet of powerful Class IV rapids that demand precise paddling and full crew commitment. If you're ready for a high-intensity challenge and one of the most exhilarating rafting experiences in Colorado, The Numbers Half-Day trip delivers non-stop thrills from start to finish.
After working up an appetite tackling the rapids, we'll enjoy a Burger BBQ lunch in our Riverside Beer Garden. Then, you'll spend the afternoon zipping across the beautiful ‘Lost Canyon.’ This high adventure, exciting Colorado zipline activity will leave you ready for even more Colorado thrills!
The Lost Canyon Zipline Tour is a true Colorado eco-adventure. Not only will you experience heart-pounding, leg-shaking thrills as you soar across ancient canyons, but you’ll learn about the history, flora, and fauna of this beautiful, fascinating area. This is a 1-2 hour fully guided adventure, including six zip lines with significant height exposure. You'll enjoy scenic hikes between ziplines. Guided by friendly experts, this ziplining escapade promises to be a highlight of your vacation, offering adrenaline-pumping thrills alongside opportunities to create lasting memories with loved ones.

FAQs

When does The Numbers run?

Great question! Check out our guide to the seasonality of Colorado rivers for an overview of when rivers are running, difficulty, locations and more.

Does our raft guide accompany us to the zipline tour?

No, they don't. After lunch, you and your group can head over to the zipline meeting location to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. It's about 30 minutes away from our rafting outpost.

If not everyone in my party wants to do the zipline part of the tour, are there options?

Spectators are permitted and must sign a Participant Waiver/Release Agreement and remain in designated areas throughout the course.

What does the free wetsuit package include?

FREE Wetsuit Package included on all trips!

- Wetsuit - Stretchy 2mm neoprene keeps your core warm without unnecessary bulk.

- Splash Jacket - Urethane coated nylon jacket with neoprene neck and wrist gaskets to help with the splash.

- River Shoes - Neoprene boots that keep your feet warm, comfortable, and well protected.

How many people go in a raft?

The number of people per raft can vary from trip to trip. However, all of our rafts can comfortably accommodate seven guests and one guide. You do not need to fill a raft to sign up - smaller groups will be paired together in a raft.

Can I bring my camera rafting, or will you have photos available?

If your camera is not waterproof, we do not recommend bringing it on the trip as it will get wet! However, reusable waterproof cameras are available for sale in our retail shop and are ideal for taking on rafting trips. Also, please keep in mind that Arkansas Valley Digital Imaging will be taking multiple shots of your raft during your trip, which will be available for viewing and purchase immediately following your trip.

What if the weather is bad?

Our rafting trips leave as scheduled, rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather conditions, we do reserve the right to alter your trip.

Are gratuities acceptable?

Yes. Gratuities for guides are acceptable and greatly appreciated. A typical gratuity can range from 10-20% of the cost of the experience and can be given in cash directly to the guide or left on a credit card in our retail shop.

Can we purchase souveniers after the rafting trip?

Absolutely! We have a beautiful first-class retail shop stocked with a wide variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, snacks, drinks, etc as well as photos of you and your group on the river….come on in!

Is rafting safe?

As with any outdoor activity, there are inherent risks. Although safety cannot be guaranteed, the entire American Adventure Expeditions staff makes your safety their top priority and it shows!

How safe are zipline tours and aerial adventure park activities?

The Lost Canyon Zipline Tour and Canyon Challenge Course were built using standards set by the Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), the professional organization that sets installation, inspection, operation, and certification standards for the challenge course industry.

Both courses meet and abide by the regulations of the State of Colorado.

Our staff check each participant’s equipment and instruct participants prior to embarking on the Lost Canyon Zipline Tour. Because we cannot eliminate every risk, it is each participant’s responsibility to understand and follow all instructions, and to listen and obey the guides at all times. All guests are required to follow the safety policies and procedures of Captain Zipline and its guides. Further, all guests are required to sign a Participant Waiver/Release Agreement (Participant Assumption of Risks, Acknowledgment of Inherent Risks and Indemnity Agreement in favor of Captain Zipline Adventure Park) before participating or spectating.

Are the zipline courses certified?

The Lost Canyon Zipline Tour and Canyon Challenge Course undergo annual inspections by professional, third-party inspectors that meet the requirements of the State of Colorado and are audited by the State of Colorado. Each course is periodically inspected to meet requirements of the manufacturers and pre-use inspections are completed each day prior to participant use

How physically demanding is the Lost Canyon Zipline Tour?

Moderate core strength and agility are required to maintain an upright position in the harness and some hiking up moderate inclines on loose, uneven terrain is required. While not required on tour, participants should be comfortable hiking a brisk mile and climbing a 16’ ladder.
