Description

Private Terma Multi-Pitch Rock Climbing Tour – Guided Moab Climbing Adventure

Terma offers one of the most unique and rewarding multi-pitch climbing experiences in Moab, combining moderate climbing, technical skill-building, and breathtaking views high above the Colorado River. Perched hundreds of feet above a sweeping bend in the river, this route delivers a true sense of exposure and accomplishment while remaining accessible to climbers of varying experience levels.
The day begins with a steep but scenic hike to the base of the climb, gaining elevation over rugged desert terrain. Once at the wall, your guide will introduce the fundamentals of multi-pitch climbing, including rope systems, belaying, communication, and efficient movement on rock. With a focus on safety and technique, you’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to climb in a multi-pitch environment.
From there, the adventure truly begins. You’ll ascend three pitches of primarily face climbing, using balance, footwork, and body positioning to move upward across the sandstone. As you climb higher, the views expand dramatically, culminating in a spectacular summit overlooking the vast desert landscape and winding river below.
After taking in the views and celebrating your accomplishment, the descent adds another layer of excitement as you rappel the route in three stages back to the base. This full experience—hike, climb, summit, and rappel—makes Terma an ideal introduction to multi-pitch climbing or a memorable day for experienced climbers looking to refine their skills in an incredible setting.

FAQs

What is multi-pitch climbing and how is it different from regular climbing?

Multi-pitch climbing means ascending a route in sections rather than one continuous climb. You climb to a set of anchors, pause while your guide brings the rest of the group up, and then continue higher. It creates a more immersive experience, with greater height, exposure, and a true summit at the top.

Do I need prior climbing experience for Moab multi-pitch rock climbing?

No prior experience is required. This trip is designed to be approachable for adventurous beginners, while still being engaging for more experienced climbers. Your guide will teach you everything you need to know along the way.

How physically demanding is this trip?

This is more physically demanding than a half-day climbing trip. The hike to the base includes a steady uphill climb, and you will be active for several hours. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.

What does the climb actually feel like?

The climbing is mostly face climbing, which means using your feet and balance to move upward across the rock. It feels more like solving a puzzle than pulling yourself up with strength. As you gain height, the exposure and views add to the sense of adventure.

How does rappelling work?

To descend, you will rappel down the route in multiple stages. Your guide will walk you through the process step by step. You will be attached to the rope system the entire time, with built-in safety backups, making it a controlled and rewarding way to return to the ground.

What will I learn during the trip?

You will be introduced to multi-pitch climbing systems, including belaying, rope management, communication between climbers, and efficient movement on rock. Many guests come away with a much deeper understanding of how climbing works.

How much time do we actually spend climbing?

A large portion of the day is spent climbing and transitioning between pitches. There are also natural pauses at each anchor where you can rest, take in the views, and enjoy the experience.

If a tour is canceled because of a late arrival, a refund will not be issued.
