FAQs
Where should I paddle with my SUP rental in Telluride?
T
Telluride is surrounded by stunning high alpine lakes, each offering a unique experience for paddlers. Popular spots include Trout Lake for its calm, clear water and scenic mountain views, Hope Lake for a peaceful, less-crowded experience, and Bear Creek Lake for wildlife spotting and relaxing shorelines.
When you pick up your SUP rental, our staff can recommend the best lakes based on your skill level, time available, and the kind of adventure you’re looking for. Whether you want a leisurely float, a scenic photography session, or a small lake-hopping adventure, we’ll help you plan the perfect day on the water.
What makes SUPing on Telluride’s alpine lakes unique?
High-elevation lakes offer crystal-clear water, quiet surroundings, and breathtaking mountain scenery—perfect for photography, wildlife spotting, or a peaceful day on the water.
Can beginners rent a SUP without prior experience?
Yes! Our SUPs are stable and suitable for all skill levels. Whether it’s your first time or you’re an experienced paddler, you can enjoy the lakes at your own pace.
Are there any safety considerations for high-altitude SUPing?
The water is cooler at high elevations, so a PFD is included for safety. Guests should also stay hydrated and take breaks as needed due to the thinner mountain air.
Can I bring children on the SUP?
Yes, our SUPs can accommodate children when paired with an adult.
What wildlife might I see while paddling?
Depending on the lake, you may spot fish, ducks, geese, or even deer and elk near the shoreline. Alpine birds are also common.
