Description
Mountain, Gravel & E-Bike Rentals in Downtown Telluride
Telluride Cyclery is a locally owned bike shop in the heart of downtown Telluride, Colorado, renting a professionally maintained fleet built for the terrain of the San Juan Mountains. Whether you're here for a mellow cruise on the Valley Floor or a full day chasing alpine singletrack, the crew matches you with the right bike and points you toward routes that fit your ability.
The rental fleet covers just about every way to ride the box canyon: full-suspension mountain bikes in carbon and aluminum, hardtail mountain bikes, gravel bikes in carbon and flat-bar e-gravel, fat bikes, e-mountain bikes, and an e-townie for easy around-town spins. Every bike comes from trusted brands and is tuned and trail-ready when you pick it up.
It's more than a rental counter, too - knowledgeable mechanics who actually ride the local trails, a big screen streaming European bike races, and fresh coffee on the counter. Roll in, get dialed in, and get out there.
Duration
Rentals are available in flexible windows, with multi-day and seasonal options for longer stays:
- Half day: up to 3 hours
- Full day: 24 hours
- Multi-day and seasonal: available - reserve ahead for the best selection
Availability varies by bike type and season, so booking in advance is the best way to lock in your bike and size.
Location / Where to Meet
Pick up your rental at Telluride Cyclery, right on Colorado Avenue in downtown Telluride, near Elk's Park.
Address: 300 W. Colorado Ave, Telluride, CO 81435. Open in Google Maps.
The shop sits within easy pedaling distance of the Telluride Bike Path, the Valley Floor, and the River Trail, so you can roll out and start riding right from downtown. Rentals are picked up and returned in-store - Telluride Cyclery doesn't offer delivery or rent vehicle bike racks.
Ages
Telluride Cyclery is family-friendly. Youth riders are covered with 20-inch kids' hardtails, and sizing runs up from there through adult frames (extra-small and small hardtails on up). Renters under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the rental agreement. Riders should be comfortable and physically able to safely operate the bike type they choose, especially for e-bikes and technical mountain terrain.
Difficulty / Skill Level
All experience levels are welcome. The fleet ranges from easy-riding e-townies and comfortable full-suspension bikes to capable carbon rigs for advanced trail and enduro riders. Tell the shop what you're hoping to ride and they'll match you with an appropriate bike and route.

- Wear your helmet at all times while riding
- Ride only on marked, designated trails and public roads - no off-trail riding
- Stay off trails that are visibly muddy or closed for moisture, to protect them from damage
- On an e-bike, ride only on e-bike-friendly or motorized-use trails, and verify local trail regulations before you go - keep a safe speed (Class 1 e-bikes are capped at 20 mph)

- No passengers, no reckless riding, and no riding after dusk
- Lock the bike to a fixed object whenever it's left unattended

FAQs
Where can I ride with a Telluride Cyclery rental?
Popular options straight from downtown include the Telluride Bike Path, the Valley Floor, and the River Trail. For more, riders head to the Telluride Bike Park, Mountain Village, Last Dollar Road, and the wider network of alpine singletrack and gravel roads across the San Juan Mountains. The shop will recommend routes based on your bike and experience level.
What kinds of bikes can I rent?
The fleet includes full-suspension mountain bikes (carbon and aluminum), hardtail mountain bikes, carbon gravel bikes, flat-bar e-gravel bikes, fat bikes, e-mountain bikes, and an e-townie for cruising around town. Youth riders are covered too, with 20-inch kids' hardtails available.
What's included with my rental?
Every rental comes with a professionally maintained bike, a helmet, a lock, and a flat-repair/tool kit - plus local trail and route recommendations from the shop. Riders of all levels are welcome, and the team will match you to a bike and terrain that suit your comfort and skill.
What do I need to rent?
You'll need a valid photo ID and a credit card to complete the rental agreement. A refundable deposit is held on your card and released once the bike is returned undamaged.
Can I ride an e-bike on Telluride's trails?
Some trails allow e-bikes and some don't, so always check the trail map and obey posted closures. On an e-bike, ride only where they're permitted (e-bike-friendly or motorized-use sections), keep a safe speed (Class 1 e-bikes are capped at 20 mph), yield to hikers and horses, and follow Leave No Trace. When in doubt, stick to trails clearly marked as e-bike friendly.
Should I book in advance?
Yes. Inventory is limited and varies by season and bike type, so booking ahead is recommended, especially for busy summer weekends and for specific bikes or sizes.
