Summertime Surf Class – Belmar
On the sand in Belmar, this program pairs small-group coaching with the fundamentals of surfing and ocean safety that New Jersey's longest-running surf school has refined since 2006.
Open to all levels and very beginner-friendly, the class is a low-pressure way to get started, or to return to for a consistency-building tune-up if you've been out before.

What happens if the weather is bad?
Programs run rain or shine — some of the best surf conditions happen during rain showers. Your guides reserve the right to make the call on acceptable conditions for the day, and will work with you to make sure you're getting value from the time spent together. Thunderstorms are the most common reason for cancellation, at about 3 days per season; exact same-day weather check-in times vary by program (see the Cancellation Policy section on this listing for specifics). For kids' camps, campers are evacuated from the beach at the first report of lightning and parents are contacted for pickup.
Are the instructors certified?
Yes. All staff members are Certified Lifesavers trained in CPR and First Aid, and the team works closely with local lifeguards and first aid squads to help keep campers and students safe.
Is instruction on how to use the gear included?
Yes. All programs include hands-on instruction on surfboard handling and technique appropriate to the participant's level — no prior gear knowledge is required to get started.
Is a waiver required?
Yes. Due to the inherent risks of surfing and beach activities, a waiver must be signed before participating.
Do I need prior experience?
No. The class is open to all levels and is beginner-friendly, with first-time students guided through fundamentals on land and in the water. Intermediate surfers looking for consistency are welcome too.
Can I book multiple classes at once?
Yes. First-time students typically start with a single class, and returning students can move to a four-class package, which is the most affordable way to keep building a surf practice.
