Relaxing River Float on the Legendary Snake River
Our Snake River Scenic Floats will pass through some of the most beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife habitat to be found anywhere in Jackson Hole. Moose and elk are common sights on the Snake River and bald eagles are always present, not to mention many views of active eagle nests. We may also have a chance to spot river otters, the elusive beaver, and many fantastic bird species as well. With the Teton Range as a backdrop, plan on an unforgettable 2 hours on the water!
Itinerary
The meeting place for this float is at the Stilson Parking Lot also known as the Village Transit Center. Then a short walk or drive will bring us to our departure point, the Wilson Landing, just south of Grand Teton Park. Some boat preparation will ensue, as well as the donning of lifejackets, and after an initial safety talk, we will board the raft. Guests will be seated on the outside pontoons and cross tubes of the raft, with all navigation and propulsion handled by your guide, via a center-mounted oar frame.
We will embark on a two-hour, thirteen-mile float down the Snake River as our friendly and professional guides share their knowledge of the history, geology, flora, and fauna of this amazing river system. We will have the breathtaking Teton Range as a backdrop for most of the float, as well as the Snake River Range, the Gros Ventre, and the Hoback Ranges as well. Keep your eyes peeled as moose sightings are common, as well as elk and deer. We always guarantee a bald eagle or two, as we have over half a dozen nesting pairs on this beautiful stretch of river, not to mention close-up views of active eagle nests as well.
After a memorable day on the water, we will complete our adventure at Von Gontard’s landing, about 15 minutes south of Jackson. A Jackson Hole scenic float tour is a must-do and an experience you won’t forget!

FAQ
Is there a lunch option available?
The Snake River Scenic Rafting Trip does not include lunch. For a scenic float with lunch, check out our
Snake River Afternoon Lunch Float, which depart at 11:30 AM daily.
Should we tip our guide?
If you had a great time, guide gratuity is always welcome and appreciated. Guide gratuity is not included, typically 15-20% of the trip price is recommended.
How many guests fit in a raft?
We can accommodate up to 12 participants per raft. If you have a group larger than 12, we can bring multiple rafts; we take up to 4 rafts per launch time for a maximum of 48 guests per trip.
How do we sit in the raft?
Guests will be seated on the outside pontoons and cross tubes of the raft, with all navigation and propulsion handled by your guide, via a center-mounted oar frame.
Can we book a private raft?
Yes, we offer the option to book either a public raft or a private raft. With a public raft, you will be paired with other guests who are excited to experience the magic of the Snake River. With a private raft, your group will have the raft to itself, but there may be up to 3 other rafts on the river at the same time as your group. However, we do our best to provide ample spacing between groups as desired, to ensure an intimate and relaxing river experience.
Are scenic floats in Grand Teton National Park?
Our floats will operate just outside of Grand Teton Park, but still within the Wild and Scenic Snake River Watershed. The river stretch we float technically does float through private land, but up to 90% of the corridor has been protected through conservation easements and conservation trusts, allowing for minimal development. These conservation efforts have allowed the South Park stretch to become one of the richest riparian areas in the valley.
What are the most common wildlife sightings?
Moose and elk are common sights on the Snake River and bald eagles are always present, not to mention many views of active eagle nests. We may also have a chance to spot river otters, the elusive beaver, and many fantastic bird species as well.
Can I bring my camera or other personal belongings on the trip?
This is a relaxed trip and it is unlikely to get wet, so you are welcome to bring small bags, cameras, or other personal items. However, we recommend leaving anything you don't need back in your car, as there's always a slim chance of losing items to the river. You can lock your items in your car, and you will hold on to your own keys while on the river. A small carabiner or secure purse with a zipper are both good options to keep your keys stashed away securely.
Do you raft rain or shine?
We raft in most weather, and we will provide complimentary ponchos for rainy days. However, a rain jacket is encouraged as mountain weather can change suddenly. Should we deem the weather too bad to raft, we will work with you to reschedule your trip to another day or time that works for you.
Are there any fitness requirements?
The only requirement is that you should be able to get in and out of the raft.
What kind of clothing is appropriate?
Although you are unlikely to get wet, synthetic or wool layers are great for insulation on chillier days. On warmer days, we recommend dressing for sun protection, such as a synthetic lightweight fishing shirt. You're welcome to dress for comfort on this trip. We recommend bringing a windbreaker or rain jacket just in case, as mountain weather can sometimes be unpredictable, but we will provide ponchos to anyone who needs them in the event of rain. For footwear, sandals are a great option, but you may wear sneakers or other comfortable footwear.
