Ski & Snowboard Rentals - Arizona Snowbowl
Description
Arizona Snowbowl Ski & Snowboard Rentals – Flagstaff, AZ
Get geared up right at the base of Arizona's premier ski resort — no off-site shuttle, no hauling equipment down the road. The Hart Prairie Rental Shop sits steps from the lifts at the Hart Prairie base area, making it the most convenient rental option for a day at Snowbowl. The fleet was fully upgraded for the season as part of a $1.5 million resort investment, and the shop offers everything from beginner sport packages and kids gear to demo equipment for riders ready to test higher-performance setups.
Save money by booking your rentals online in advance — a day-of surcharge applies to walk-up rentals during peak periods. Pick up your gear when you arrive and head straight to the lifts.
Getting on top-notch equipment that matches your ability, terrain of choice, and mountain conditions has never been easier. Whether you're a beginner or an expert — the key to a great day is having the correct equipment that is comfortable, fits you well, and suits your ability level and the conditions on the mountain. Not only will proper gear help you maximize your comfort, it will help you build confidence and focus on what brings visitors back year after year — endless smiles on the slopes.
Ski & Snowboard Rental Packages
Arizona Snowbowl offers standard ski and snowboard packages, a demo upgrade option, and children's packages — all sized and fitted by the rental team at Hart Prairie Lodge.
- Equipment is fitted by the rental team to match your ability level and boot size
- Swap equipment mid-day if conditions change or something doesn't feel right (a $10 switch fee applies to changing sports, e.g. skis to snowboard)
- The rental fleet is regularly maintained and only gear in top shape is put out
Note: Specific ski and snowboard models cannot be guaranteed. Rentals are issued on a first-come, first-served basis — advance booking is strongly recommended to secure your size.
Demo Package
The demo fleet is a great way to test out different shapes, styles, and technologies as your skills progress or mountain conditions change. With top-of-the-line skis and snowboards, demo equipment features newer technology suited to intermediate and advanced riders looking to carve groomers with precision, push into more challenging terrain, or simply try before they buy.
Standard Package
For skiers and riders of all levels, the standard package provides reliable, well-maintained equipment fitted to your boot size and ability. A solid choice for beginners working through green runs, riders building confidence on blues, or anyone who just needs solid gear without the performance upgrade.
Kids Package
The kids package is ideal for children 12 and under of any ability level. The rental team will fit your child with safe, properly sized gear — whether they're heading into Ski & Ride School for the first time or already flying past you on the hill. Every setup is custom-fitted to your child's size and ability so they can focus on picking up new skills and having fun.
Sno-Go Ski Bike
One unique offering here is the Sno-Go Ski Bike — a three-ski bike-style device that allows anyone, including those with no skiing or snowboarding experience, to get out on the mountain. The Sno-Go has an extremely short learning curve; most riders are comfortable on green terrain within an hour. To rent a Sno-Go independently, guests must first complete a 2-hour guided Sno-Go Mountain Tour (offered daily at 10 AM and 1 PM, and booked separately).
Skis or Board Only
Already have your own boots? You can rent just skis (with poles) or a snowboard and bindings without the boot package. Simply select the skis-only or board-only option at checkout. Note: the resort does not rent ski boots to be paired with personal skis — boot-only rentals are not available.
Duration
- Rental period is one full day. Equipment must be returned by 4:30 PM; a $10 late fee applies.
- Multi-day rentals are available — guests may keep all equipment (skis or snowboard, boots, and helmet) overnight and return it by 4:30 PM on the final day of their rental.
- Arrive early. Peak check-in times are between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM. Allow extra time on busy days, particularly during holidays and weekends. The rental shop opens at the same time as the mountain.

FAQs
Do I need to book rentals in advance?
Yes, advance booking is strongly recommended. Booking online saves you money (a day-of surcharge applies during peak periods) and lets you go directly to the rental shop upon arrival without stopping at a ticket window. Rentals are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, and specific sizes are not guaranteed — early arrival helps ensure you get the right fit.
What do I do when I arrive?
If you've purchased your rentals online, go directly to the rental shop on the south side of Hart Prairie Lodge — no need to visit the ticket window. Have your confirmation email pulled up on your phone. The rental team will check you in, help you try on boots and helmets, and get your skis or snowboard properly fitted before sending you out on the mountain.
What time should I arrive?
The rental shop is busiest between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM. If you have a lesson or want first tracks, plan to arrive before 8:30 AM. Build in extra time on holidays and weekends.
Can I use my own ski boots with the rental skis?
Yes — rental skis and poles without boots are available at a reduced rate. Personal ski boots must be alpine-style boots in acceptable condition and are subject to inspection. Touring or other non-alpine boot styles may not be compatible with rental bindings. Note: the resort does not rent ski boots to pair with personal skis.
Can I switch from skis to a snowboard (or vice versa) during my rental?
Yes, you can exchange equipment mid-day. A $10 switch fee applies.
When do I need to return my equipment?
All equipment must be returned by 4:30 PM. A $10 late fee applies for returns after this time. Lost equipment is the renter's responsibility.
Are there lockers available?
Yes. Day lockers are located just outside the Hart Prairie Rental Shop. Sizes range from small (fits a couple of pairs of shoes) to jumbo (boots and a backpack). Lockers start at $7 per day, are first-come, first-served, and are operated by Best Lockers, a third-party vendor. You pay upon arrival in the locker room.
What is a Sno-Go and how do I rent one?
A Sno-Go is a three-ski bike-style device that requires no prior ski or snowboard experience. Most riders are comfortable on green terrain within an hour. To rent a Sno-Go independently, you must first complete a 2-hour guided Sno-Go Mountain Tour (offered daily at 10 AM and 1 PM, booked separately). The tour includes the Sno-Go, snowboard boots, and a helmet. After completing the tour, you'll receive access to rent and ride on your own for the rest of the season. Participants must be at least 13 years old and 5'0" (152 cm) tall.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The mountain operates in all weather conditions unless there is a severe safety event. Refunds and credits are not issued for weather-related disruptions, road conditions, or lift closures. If you need to change your plans, rentals can be exchanged for a resort credit up to 11:59 PM the night before your visit date.
Is parking free?
Yes. Parking in all resort lots (Hart Prairie Lots 1–4) is free for rental guests. The Hart Prairie base area is the correct area for rental pickup.
What are the available equipment sizes?
Available Equipment Sizes:
- Skis: 80 cm – 175 cm
- Snowboards: 80 cm – 164 cm
- Ski Boots: Children's size 6 – Men's size 15.5
- Snowboard Boots: Children's size 8 – Men's size 14.5
- Helmets: 49 cm – 67 cm
Do you rent helmets?
Yes. Helmets can be added to your rental at checkout for $12, or picked up on a first-come, first-served basis at the shop. We don't take standalone helmet reservations online. Although helmets aren't required for adults, we strongly recommend them for everyone on the slopes — and especially for kids.
What should I wear skiing at Arizona Snowbowl?
Snowbowl sits at a base elevation of 9,200 feet (2,804 m) with terrain up to 11,500 feet (3,505 m) — significantly colder than Flagstaff and with stronger UV exposure. Dress in waterproof, moisture-wicking layers and avoid cotton. At minimum, bring a waterproof jacket and snow pants, a warm base layer, waterproof gloves or mittens, a hat or balaclava, and goggles or UV-rated sunglasses. Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) even on cloudy days — the snow reflects UV rays at elevation.
Check out our What to Wear Skiing blog post, with a free ski trip packing list included!
Do you have larger boot sizes available?
The rental shop carries ski boots from children's size 6 through men's size 15.5, and snowboard boots from children's size 8 through men's size 14.5. Sizes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis — book in advance and arrive early to ensure your size is available.
Do you have ski clothing available to rent?
No. Arizona Snowbowl's rental shop does not rent apparel — no jackets, pants, goggles, beanies, or face wear. These items are available for purchase at the Hart Prairie Retail Shop and Agassiz Lodge Pro Shop on-mountain. Plan to bring your own ski clothing.
Can I just rent boots without skis or a snowboard?
No — the resort does not offer standalone boot rentals or ski-boot-only rentals. Boots are only available as part of a full ski or snowboard package, or as an add-on to a ski or board-only rental.
Cancellation Policy
Rental purchases are refundable in full within 48 hours of the original purchase, provided the visit date has not yet arrived. After the 48-hour window, rentals may be exchanged for a resort credit equal to the original purchase price up until 11:59 PM the night before your visit. No refunds, credits, or transfers are issued on the day of use. Credits expire April 30 of the active season.
