Scuba Refresher 1-Tank Shore Dive in West Maui for Certified Divers

Description
Has it Been a While? Get Comfortable Underwater Again!
Been certified for a while but feeling a little rusty? You're definitely not the first diver to forget exactly where everything clips, wonder whether your buoyancy will feel natural again, or simply want a little extra confidence before jumping into the rest of your Maui diving plans. This informal scuba refresher is designed to help certified divers ease comfortably back into the water without turning the experience into another classroom course.
Before the dive, your instructor will help you get reacquainted with your equipment and review important diving fundamentals, safety reminders, and any skills you're unsure about. Then you'll head directly into the ocean from a West Maui beach and put everything back into practice on a real reef dive. Your instructor can provide feedback along the way, helping you fine-tune your buoyancy, equipment use, and general comfort until diving starts to feel familiar again.
And this isn't just a skills session—the goal is still to go diving and have fun. Once you're comfortable, you'll explore West Maui's reef while searching for tropical fish, Hawaiian green sea turtles (Honu), moray eels, octopus, and other marine life. Choose a one-tank refresher for an easy return to the water or a two-tank option if you'd like more time to settle back into your diving rhythm.
This experience is especially recommended for certified divers who have been diving within the past two years but feel hesitant or uncertain about their current skills.

FAQs
How is this different from a regular certified shore dive?
This dive starts with a skills and equipment refresher before you get in the water, and your guide offers feedback along the way — it's built for divers who feel a little rusty rather than those diving regularly.
How recently should I have dived to book this instead of the ReActivate course?
This refresher dive is recommended for divers who've been in the water within the past 2 years. If it's been longer, the ReActivate course (with an eLearning review) is the better fit.
Is this a one-tank or two-tank dive?
It's available as either — you can decide the day of your dive whether to add a second tank for an extra fee.
Will my guide correct my technique during the dive?
Yes — part of the point of this dive is relaxed, in-water feedback on things like buoyancy control as you get back into the rhythm of diving.
Do you have DIN tanks?
Yes, we need 2 days advance notice.
Can I get nitrox? What blend Nitrox do you have? What percentage is the Nitrox?
Yes, we need 1 day advance notice. Nitrox blend is 32%
Would you recommend steel tanks (“100’s”) since I tend to go through my air fast?
It depends on your dimensions (height and weight) if it will be beneficial for you. If you are over 210 lbs we recommend steel tanks. Also known as “100’s”
Can I go to Hana the day after I dive?
Yes, there is no elevation gain to worry about.
Can I drive up to Haleakala (volcano)?
No, wait 18 – 24 hours before ascending to altitude.
Any activity that brings you above 1000 ft (305 m) can trigger the Bends/Decompression Sickness. Please check your hike elevation to ensure that at no time you will be going up in elevation. If the hike does go to elevation, you must treat it like a preflight interval as listed above in the flying FAQ.
Can I fly after diving?
Flying directly after scuba diving is incredibly dangerous and could result in a life-threatening illness called the Bends/Decompression Sickness. The Divers Alert Network (DAN) guidelines for flying after diving include:
- A single no-decompression dive, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000 ft (305 m) interval of 18 hours suggested.
- Multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum preflight surface or any driving to above 1000ft (305m) interval of 24 hours is suggested.
- Dives requiring decompression stops are recommended to have longer than 18 hours.
Please discuss with your dive guide ahead of time what is suggested!
I have my own regulator can I just rent the BCD?
Yes; when you make your reservation you can select which add-ons are right for you: you can either rent a Full Set of dive gear or by the piece.
As of 2021 we are providing any gear rental you need for no extra charge.
Do I need my scuba certification card?
Yes, you need to show your scuba certification card at check in in order to participate in our Maui diving excursion. Proof of certification is accepted, for example, if the office has verified you or you have a Dive Check through PADI.
Can I bring my own tanks? Is there a discount if I do?
Yes, you can bring your own tanks. There is no discount as tanks do not cost extra, they are included.
Can I use all of my own equipment?
Yes, and you do need a computer on for boat dives.
