San Francisco is famous for its scenic beauty and cultural attractions, with iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge. A “must-do” while visiting the foggy city is biking the bridge into sunny Sausalito and taking the ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf. We'll experience the highlights, such as:
- Depart from Fisherman’s Wharf to the start of the National Bike Path along the waterfront and head towards the bridge
- Bike along historic Fort Mason and over to scenic Crissy Fields and enjoy breathtaking views on this former U.S Army airfield
- Cycle over the 1.7 miles of the Golden Gate Bridge, stopping along the way for all the must get photos and amazing views
- Bike down the coast, into the sunny town of Sausalito
- Guests can either stay and explore Sausalito, or take the ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf
This guided tour takes about 3 hours, including various stops near essential attractions while our guides provide in-depth narration and stop for photo opportunities at famous sights and hidden gems throughout the tour. The tour begins at our Ghirardelli Square location right at Fisherman’s Wharf and takes you all along Fort Mason, Crissy Fields, the Presidio, through the Golden Gate Bridge, and into Sausalito. This beautiful ride gives you stunning views of the bridge – and gives you an unique perspective riding through the Golden City.

Ages & Requirements
- Riders ages 13+ may select an eBike at checkout.
- All guests must be able to ride their own bike. Attachments such as double trailers and tag-a-long bikes are not permitted on the tour for the safety reasons.
- No customer under the age of 18 will be given a bike without an adult over the age of 18 present.
- For your safety and the safety of the group, all tour participants are required to wear the provided helmets for the duration of the tour

What kind of bikes do we use for the tour?
Comfort hybrid bikes are the standard option for this tour.
How big are the groups?
The group size is 15 guests per tour guide.
How many miles do we cover?
This tour covers approximately 9 miles.
How long does it take to bike the bridge and return by ferry?
About 3-4 hours round-trip. The tour lasts 3 hours in total, but you'll have the chance to explore afterwards. It will take about 20-30 minutes to ride to the beginning of the Golden Gate Bridge from our location. It will take another 10-20 minutes to bike cross the Golden Gate Bridge (1.8 miles). Then, it is about 15-20 minutes (2 miles) mostly downhill to Sausalito after the bridge. Ferry ride takes 30 minutes to Fisherman's Wharf, and 20 minutes ride back to our bike rental shop. The ferry ticket is not included in the tour price.
Do I have to to take the ferry?
No, you can bike across the bridge and bike back! You can turn around and return by bike. However, if you take the ferry, it's nice to not have to ride up the hill back from Sausalito to Fisherman's Wharf!
What will the weather be like?
Weather in San Francisco can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood! Weather can be sunny one minute then foggy the next- and it’s almost always sunny and ten degrees warmer in Sausalito! We always recommend layers: dress comfortably enough for your bike ride but also consider the variations in our weather.
