Description

Intermediate Copper Canyon Kayak Tour on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River

Explore one of the most scenic and wildlife-rich stretches of the Wild and Scenic Rogue River on this full-day, 13-mile paddle from Agness to Quosatana Creek Campground. This immersive tour takes you deep into the heart of Copper Canyon—an awe-inspiring section of the river framed by steep canyon walls, lush forest, and abundant wildlife.
As you paddle through this remote and beautiful section, keep your eyes peeled for osprey, bald eagles, kingfishers, herons, and a variety of waterfowl. It’s not uncommon to spot harbor seals lounging along the riverbank or even catch glimpses of otters, black bears, or weasels in the quieter sections of the canyon.
We’ll break midway for a relaxing riverside lunch, complete with a fresh boxed meal and a cold beverage. You'll have a chance to relax and refuel before continuing downstream.
This is a truly immersive river experience—perfect for those seeking a deeper connection with Oregon’s wild places and a day full of quiet beauty, wildlife encounters, and adventure on the water.

FAQs

How challenging is this trip?

This is considered an intermediate paddle, and the upriver winds can sometimes make it a bit harder, so we recommend this tour for strong paddlers only. Consider booking a tandem to make the paddling easier.

This tour is best suited for those with a moderate level of fitness and the ability to remain seated for an extended period, as you’ll be paddling for most of the day. If you’re up for the journey, the rewards are unforgettable views, rich biodiversity, and a deep sense of connection with this pristine Southern Oregon river.

Do I need prior kayaking experience?

Prior experience is highly recommended. This stretch is mostly flatwater with some mild current and riffles. You should feel comfortable being on the water in a seated position for an extended period and have a moderate level of fitness.

What kind of wildlife might we see?

This area is home to river otters, herons, osprey, bald eagles, kingfishers, and more. Keep your eyes peeled—wildlife sightings are common!

Can we swim in the river?

Yes! There are several great spots to take a dip in the Rogue's clear, warm water. Your guide will point them out along the way.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

This tour must have at least three people to run or be charged for 3 paddlers. Bookings for just 1 or 2 people will be subject to rebooking, dependent on availability. We will contact you directly if this relates to your booking. If necessary, refunds are available.

Should I bring my camera?

It's best to leave the camera behind unless it is rated for use in and around water. Our guides will be sure to snap some photos of you while you’re out on your tour as well.

Should I tip my guide?

Tipping is always appreciated and a great way to recognize your guide’s hard work. Guiding is part of the service industry, and if your guide provides a safe, informative, and enjoyable experience, a tip is a meaningful way to say thank you.
