Description
Rise & Reef Morning Snorkel — Key West
Start your Key West morning the right way: fresh air, open water, and one of the most spectacular reefs on Earth waiting just below the surface. This 3-hour morning snorkel is the early riser's reward — a discounted rate, a light breakfast on the way out, and the reef to yourself before the afternoon crowds arrive.
Board the 65-foot Sandie Cat catamaran and sail out to the Florida Keys Barrier Reef — the third-largest living coral reef system in the world, teeming with over 500 species of marine life. Your guides provide expert snorkeling instruction during the sail out, getting every guest — from first-timers to experienced snorkelers — ready for what's below. Mornings often bring calmer waters and excellent visibility, making this a particularly rewarding time to snorkel the reef.
Once back on deck, fuel up with a full complimentary breakfast: fresh fruit, muffins, cereal, and juices. Then the bar opens — unlimited mimosas and draft beer until you're back at the dock. It's a great deal, a great time, and a great start to any Key West day.

FAQs
Can I bring my own snorkel gear?
Yes, you're welcome to bring your own mask and snorkel. All gear is also included with your ticket.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Being comfortable in open water is strongly recommended. Flotation devices are available if needed.
What sunscreen should I use?
Reef-safe, non-nano mineral sunscreen only. Avoid oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. A rash guard is a great alternative to sunscreen entirely.
What marine life can I see on a morning snorkel at Key West's reef?
Morning is an excellent time to snorkel — the water is often at its calmest and clearest, and the reef is highly active. Expect parrotfish, queen angelfish, French angelfish, sergeant majors, blue tangs, yellowtail snapper, hogfish, trumpetfish, spotted eagle rays, southern stingrays, green moray eels, tarpon, grouper, and sea turtles. Every trip is unique.
Is there a benefit to snorkeling in the morning vs. afternoon?
Morning snorkels often offer calmer seas and better visibility than later in the day, as winds typically pick up as the afternoon progresses. The reef is equally active at both times, but mornings can feel more peaceful and uncrowded.
What's included in the breakfast?
Fresh fruit, an assortment of muffins, cereal, and juices are served on the way out to the reef. After snorkeling, the bar opens with unlimited mimosas and draft beer.
Where exactly does this trip go?
Your guides select the best available reef site on the day based on conditions. Common destinations include Sand Key and sections of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The sail out typically takes 20–40 minutes.
What boat is this trip on?
The "Sandie Cat" — a 65-foot triple-deck catamaran, Key West's newest and largest snorkel vessel. Features include a top sun deck, full bar, 2 above-deck modern restrooms, sound system, and comfortable seating and standing areas for up to 149 guests.
Is this trip good for beginners?
Yes. Expert snorkeling instruction is provided on board before entering the water. The guides cover everything from clearing your mask to navigating currents, so first-timers feel comfortable from the first dive.
Are there restrooms available?
Yes — all boats are equipped with above-deck modern marine restrooms.
