Rincon Paddleboard (SUP) Rentals

The best time to paddleboard in Rincón is from late spring through early fall (May to September). During these months, the waters are typically calmer and clearer—perfect for paddleboarding, especially for beginners or those looking to explore the reefs. In the winter (November to March), Rincón becomes a world-class surf destination, and the larger waves at many beaches can make paddleboarding more challenging.

Early mornings year-round are also a great time to go, as winds and boat traffic tend to be minimal.

Beginners: Steps Beach and Black Eagle Beach are ideal. These beaches are located near the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve and usually have calm conditions perfect for flatwater paddling and reef cruising.

Intermediate: Antonio’s Beach and the southern end of Sandy Beach offer a bit more movement and small swells, great for those looking to challenge themselves just a little more.

Advanced: During the summer, skilled paddlers can explore beyond the reef at Tres Palmas or paddle the coastline between beaches. In the winter, more experienced paddleboarders may even SUP surf small breaks in areas like Domes or Marias—conditions permitting.

• Always wear a leash and use a life jacket if you're not a strong swimmer. Both are included in our rentals.
• Check the weather and ocean conditions before heading out—winds, tides, and swell can change quickly in Rincón.
• Avoid reef-heavy areas if you're unsure of your skills, and stay outside the surf zone unless you’re SUP surfing intentionally. Paddle with a buddy or let someone know where you’re going and when you plan to return.
• Use reef-safe sunscreen to protect both yourself and the marine ecosystem.Respect marine life and local rules—don't touch coral, and keep a respectful distance from sea turtles and other wildlife.

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems. 

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
