Description

Private Guided Hiking in Zion National Park - Transportation from Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

This is a fully private, fully guided day in Zion National Park. Starting with a warm breakfast at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort before your expert local guide whisks you through the dramatic east entrance and down into the canyon. The 45-minute drive from Zion Ponderosa to the Visitor Center is itself a highlight, passing through the famous Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel and descending through sweeping switchbacks with jaw-dropping views of the canyon walls opening up around you.
Once inside the park, the day is entirely yours. A day or two before your tour, your guide will contact you to discuss your group's interests, fitness level, and preferred trails. Choose from Canyon Overlook Trail, Emerald Pools, the Grotto Trail, Pa'rus Trail, Watchman Trail, and more. Your guide brings the landscape to life throughout with geology, local history, and insider knowledge that you simply won't find in a trail pamphlet.
With breakfast, round-trip transportation through the park's most scenic entrance corridor, and a private guide dedicated solely to your group, this is the most seamless and immersive way to experience Zion National Park from the east side.

FAQs

How does the custom trail selection work?

Your guide will contact you one to two days before your tour to discuss your preferences, fitness level, interests, and any physical limitations. Based on that conversation, they'll recommend one or two trails that best match your group. Possible trails include Canyon Overlook, Emerald Pools (Lower, Middle, or Upper), Grotto Trail, Pa'rus Trail, Watchman Trail, and others. Some options are stroller and wheelchair accessible.

Can our group hike Angels Landing or the Narrows on this private tour?

The Angels Landing Guided Hike and Private Zion Narrows Guided Hike are separate bookable tours (each includes their own logistics, gear, and permits). If you're interested in those specific trails, please book those dedicated listings. The Private Zion Guided Hike is designed for Zion's other iconic trails where you don't need specialized gear or permits.

Is this tour accessible for guests with mobility limitations?

Some hikes in Zion National Park are stroller and wheelchair accessible. Your guide will work with you before the tour to find the right trail for your group's needs.

What is the best time of year for a private Zion hike?

Zion National Park is beautiful year-round. Spring (March–May) brings wildflowers and waterfalls. Summer is hot but manageable with early starts. Fall (September–November) offers golden foliage and comfortable temperatures. Winter sees fewer crowds and the possibility of snow-dusted canyon walls. Your guide will advise on current conditions closer to your tour date.

Who are the guides and what are their qualifications?

Our guides are local experts with deep knowledge of the geology, history, wildlife, and ecology of southern Utah. Guides are trained in safety protocols and first aid, and are dedicated to providing both educational and entertaining experiences tailored to each group.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance, and several months ahead for large groups or peak season visits to ensure availability.

What is your approach to sustainability and conservation?

Our guides follow Leave No Trace principles on all tours. Guests are asked to pack out all waste, stay on designated paths, and respect all plants, wildlife, and rock formations. We operate in and around federally protected lands and take stewardship of those landscapes seriously.

What wildlife might I encounter on tours in the East Zion area?

The East Zion and southern Utah region is home to mule deer, coyotes, jackrabbits, lizards, hawks, eagles, ravens, and a variety of desert songbirds. Mountain lions are native to the area but extremely rarely encountered. Rattlesnakes are present in the region but generally avoid human contact — wearing closed-toe shoes and watching where you place your hands is good practice.

Do tours run in bad weather?

Most tours run rain or shine. However, if severe weather creates unsafe conditions, we will offer guests a different date or a full refund. For tours involving dirt road access (such as Candy Cliffs and White Pocket), road conditions after rain may require rescheduling.
