Sunset in the desert is about more than just watching the sun go down—it’s about being in the right place at the right time. Your guide plans the timing, location, and pacing so you arrive exactly when the light is at its best. We take the guesswork out and create a relaxed, memorable experience you wouldn’t easily replicate on your own.

It’s completely up to you. We can keep things very relaxed with short walks to scenic viewpoints, or include a longer hike to reach a more iconic or secluded sunset location. Most tours involve anywhere from no hiking to about 3 miles total.

We plan the entire experience around the sunset. That means arriving early enough to settle in, take photos, and enjoy the changing light without feeling rushed. After sunset, we’ll take our time heading back, often enjoying the afterglow as the landscape continues to shift in color.

Sunset offers some of the best lighting of the day, with warm tones, long shadows, and dramatic color changes. Your guide can help position you for great photo opportunities and suggest timing for capturing the best light.

The experience doesn’t end the moment the sun dips below the horizon. The “afterglow” can be just as beautiful, with soft light and deepening colors. Depending on the location, we may linger a bit before heading back under twilight skies.

It depends on the location. Some sunset spots are popular, especially iconic viewpoints. However, since your tour is private, we can choose locations and timing that help avoid crowds when possible. Just let us know your preference—iconic views or quieter, more secluded settings.

Temperatures can drop quickly after sunset, especially in spring and fall. Even if it’s warm during the day, it can feel cool once the sun goes down. Bringing an extra layer is always a good idea.

We can! Delicate Arch is the most iconic sunset location in Moab, but it’s also the most crowded. If seeing that classic view is important to you, we’ll make it happen. If you’d prefer something quieter, we can guide you to other equally beautiful spots with fewer people.

Yes—there are several incredible areas in Arches that offer amazing sunset views without the crowds. Depending on your preferences, we may suggest locations like the Windows Section or other scenic viewpoints that still deliver incredible light and atmosphere.

It’s a moderate hike (about 3 miles round trip) with some elevation gain and exposed sections. We’ll help you decide if it’s the right fit for your group, or recommend alternatives if you’d prefer something easier.
