Description

Yellowstone Guided Snowshoe Tours from Gardiner, Mammoth or Llamar Valley

Experience the quiet beauty of Yellowstone in winter with an expert backcountry guide leading the way. This private snowshoe outing offers a chance to explore the park’s northern range at your own pace—whether you prefer a gentle walk through snowy meadows or a more challenging, full-day trek through the backcountry.
As you travel to your trailhead, keep watch for Yellowstone’s iconic wildlife. The northern range is one of the best areas in the park for spotting bison, elk, foxes, and even wolves. Once on the trail, your guide will share insights about animal behavior, winter ecology, and the park’s unique geothermal landscape. Bring your curiosity and questions—each outing is as much about learning as it is about exploring.

FAQs

Do I need previous snowshoeing experience?

No experience is required. Your guide will provide instruction and pacing appropriate for your comfort level. Whether you’re brand new or have been snowshoeing for years, this tour can be tailored to your ability and interests.

Can young children join the tour?

Yes. This private experience can accommodate families, but children should be prepared for cold weather and able to walk comfortably for an extended period.

You’re welcome to bring a comfortable child carrier or hiking pack. Child safety carseats are required for children under 8 years old in accordance with Montana state law—please bring your own.

Will we see wildlife?

Wildlife sightings are common but can never be guaranteed. The northern range of Yellowstone is one of the best places in the park to spot bison, elk, foxes, coyotes, and occasionally wolves. Your guide will help identify tracks, behavior, and signs of wildlife along the way.

Do I need to bring my own snowshoes?

You’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. If you don’t have a pair, we can provide snowshoes at no additional cost—just let us know when booking so we can ensure the right fit and quantity.
