Description

Half-Day Private Guided Snowshoeing & Winter Hiking in New Hampshire

Step into New Hampshire’s winter wonderland on a private half-day guided hike or snowshoe tour. Designed for groups of all ages and abilities, these shorter outings are perfect if you’d like a taste of the White Mountains or Great North Woods without committing to a full day. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the region’s natural and cultural history while pointing out wildlife tracks, frozen waterfalls, and the quiet beauty of the snow-covered forest.

Because this is a private outing, your guide tailors the experience to your pace, interests, and comfort level. Want a gentle half-day walk perfect for kids and beginners? We’ll choose a scenic loop that keeps things fun and approachable. Prefer a full-day challenge or a multi-day winter camping trip? Your guide will plan a route that lets you push your limits while keeping safety front and center. Along the way, you’ll learn about the White Mountains’ natural history, spot signs of wildlife in the snow, and pick up winter backcountry skills you can use on future adventures.
Tours run from November through April (sometimes into May), with routes chosen daily based on the best snow and weather conditions. Every detail is taken care of, with expert guidance that makes winter travel comfortable and rewarding. All you need to do is show up ready to enjoy the crisp mountain air and the peace of the winter woods.

FAQs

What if the weather is bad?

We go rain or shine, so please bring everything on the pack list given to you, or rent from us. If the weather, trail, or water conditions are such that they would not be conducive to safety, fun, and learning for the chosen activity (Plan A), we have Plans B-Z.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Our private tours can include your dog, and we’ll guide you in dog-approved wilderness areas of New Hampshire. Dogs must remain under control at all times—either on a leash (6 ft. or less) or under reliable voice command—and should never chase wildlife. Owners are responsible for their dog’s food, water, and any gear such as a backpack or life jacket. To protect both your pet and the environment, please follow Leave No Trace principles, including properly disposing of waste and respecting other hikers.

How challenging are the trips?

Difficulty depends on the route and season, but tours are always customized to your group’s comfort level. Whether you’re new to the outdoors or an experienced adventurer, your guide will adjust the pace and terrain to make it fun and enjoyable.

Do I need prior snowshoeing experience?

No prior experience is required. Our guides provide instruction, safety tips, and encouragement along the way, so beginners and first-timers feel comfortable outdoors.

What kind of wildlife might we see?

Depending on the season and location, you might spot moose, deer, snowshoe hares, or winter birds like chickadees and woodpeckers. Your guide will also point out tracks and signs of animals you may not see directly.

Are we guaranteed to snowshoe?

Not always. Your adventure depends on snow conditions and location. If there isn’t enough snow for snowshoeing, your guide may instead lead a winter hike, sometimes using microspikes for traction. Either way, you’ll enjoy a scenic winter experience tailored to the day’s conditions.
