Bring your whole crew and keep the lesson entirely yours — this two-hour group session at Pleasure Point is reserved exclusively for parties of 3 to 8 who book together, whether that's family, friends, or a birthday group. Unrelated guests are never added in, so the energy in the water stays personal and familiar from the first paddle out.
Your guides cover the fundamentals of surf etiquette, ocean safety, paddling, positioning, and pop-up technique, working at a ratio of one instructor for every two surfers. Participants under 13 are paired with a dedicated one-on-one instructor for extra attention, making this a solid choice for mixed-age groups looking to catch waves together at one of Santa Cruz's most iconic breaks.

Can I join an existing group?
No. This is a private party booking reserved exclusively for guests booking together as one group. Solo travelers or unrelated guests are not mixed into existing private groups — if you're booking for one or two people, the individual Private Lesson or Private Two-Person Lesson listings are the better fit.
What's the instructor-to-guest ratio?
One instructor for every two surfers, with a dedicated one-on-one instructor for any participant under age 13.
Do I need prior surfing experience?
This lesson is designed for all skill levels, including complete beginners.
What if the weather is bad?
Your guides will notify you of any weather-related changes to your scheduled lesson.
How long are the lessons?
All lessons run two hours from start to finish — about 15 to 20 minutes of preparation on the beach, followed by the remainder of the time catching waves in the water with your instructors.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes. Being able to swim is a requirement to participate in any lesson.
Do I need to bring a towel or bathing suit?
Yes — come suited up in your bathing suit and bring a towel along.
Can I keep the surfboard or wetsuit after my lesson?
No, equipment must stay with your guides due to regulations. Nearby surf shops offer rentals if you'd like to keep surfing afterward.

Cancellation & Rebooking Policy
You must cancel or reschedule your lesson at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time.
Any reschedule request must also be made before the 48-hour window.
Rebooking Fee
A rebooking fee will be charged for any lesson that is rescheduled.
Cancellations Within 48 Hours
If you cancel within 48 hours of your lesson start time, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to 50 percent of your lesson cost.
Same-Day Cancellations
Cancellations made on the day of the lesson will be charged the full lesson price.
No-Shows
No-shows will be charged the full lesson price.
