Description

Full-Day Guided Hiking Tour in Zion National Park

Zion's most rewarding trails don't reveal themselves in a hurry. The hike to Observation Point—with its 270-degree panorama looking down on Angels Landing and the full sweep of Zion Canyon—takes most people 5–6 hours. The West Rim Trail, which climbs toward the canyon rim through increasingly dramatic terrain before opening onto some of the park's most breathtaking perspectives, rewards those with the time to stay on it. A full day with a knowledgeable local guide gives you the space to actually experience Zion rather than just pass through it.

The Full-Day Guided Zion Hiking Tour is a private, custom day in the park led by a guide who knows this landscape intimately. Your route is chosen based on your group's fitness, interests, and the conditions on the day — and with a full day available, guides can take you deeper into the park and onto trails with more elevation, more terrain variety, and more of the quiet, spectacular quality that Zion delivers when you go further than the crowds. Along the way, guides share their knowledge of the canyon's geology, history, plant life, and wildlife — the kind of interpretation that transforms a beautiful hike into a genuinely memorable one.

Whether your group wants to push for a summit-level viewpoint, explore a variety of trails across the day, or simply hike at a relaxed pace with a local who can tell you what you're looking at, the full-day format gives your guide the time to get it right.

FAQs

Which trail will we hike?

Your guide selects the route based on your group's fitness, goals, and current conditions. Full-day options include more ambitious destinations like Observation Point (one of the best viewpoints in the park, looking down on Angels Landing from over 2,000 feet above the canyon floor), the West Rim Trail, longer canyon-floor explorations, or a combination of trails across the day. If you have a specific trail in mind, mention it when booking.

How strenuous is the full day?

It depends entirely on your group and what the guide selects. A full day could mean a challenging summit hike with significant elevation gain, or a longer, lower-gradient exploration at a comfortable pace. Be honest about your group's fitness and experience at pickup and the guide will design the day accordingly.

Why should I choose a full day over a half day?

The full day allows guides to take you further — onto longer, more demanding trails with bigger elevation gains and more remote perspectives, or to cover more ground across multiple areas of the park. The half-day is a focused, excellent introduction. The full day is for those who want to really hike Zion rather than just sample it.

What will we learn on the tour?

Guides cover Zion's geology — the towering Navajo sandstone formations, the forces that carved the canyon, and the visible layers of geologic history — as well as the park's human history, native flora, wildlife, and whatever questions come up along the way. Guides genuinely love this place and it shows.

Is this a good hike for someone visiting Zion for the first time?

It's one of the best ways to start a Zion trip. A guide orients you to the park, helps you understand what you're seeing, and gives you the local knowledge to plan the rest of your visit more effectively. Many guests use the half-day tour as their orientation day before tackling bigger trails independently.

How far in advance should I book?

Early reservations are strongly advised. Summer dates (June–August) fill 30–45 days in advance. Book early to secure your preferred date and start time.

Cancellation Policy

Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations more than 3 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of trip start time are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your Zion Adventures® guide determines conditions make the event unsafe, we will reschedule or make every effort to provide a comparable experience; if not possible, all purchases will be refunded in full.
