Private Surf Lesson in Malibu – For Groups of 1 to 8

At Malibu Surf Coach, every lesson is private and tailored to you, your pace, and your goals. Whether you're stepping onto a surfboard for the first time or working toward your next level, the experienced coaching team meets you exactly where you are and gets you further than you thought possible in a single session — and you'll never be herded into a group of strangers. Every session is just your group and your coach.
Bring a friend, your partner, your family, or your kids — the more people you bring, the better the value. Lessons run 90 minutes and are completely private. Groups of 5 or more automatically include a second instructor for a better student-to-coach ratio, so everyone gets attention no matter the group size.
Lessons take place primarily at Broad Beach, a semi-private beach at the northern end of Zuma in Malibu — uncrowded, beautiful, and consistently great for all skill levels. Depending on conditions, sessions may also run at County Line, Point Dume, Leo Carrillo, Staircase, and other Malibu breaks. All equipment is provided, including soft-top Stormblade surfboards and wetsuits.
No experience needed. No swimming ability required. Just show up ready to surf.

Duration

90 minutes from start to finish, including beach instruction covering safety, ocean awareness, paddling technique, and pop-up mechanics before you get in the water.

Location / Where to Meet

Primary location: Broad Beach, at the northern end of Zuma in Malibu, CA. Depending on conditions, sessions may relocate to County Line, Point Dume, Leo Carrillo, Staircase, or other Malibu breaks. You'll receive your exact meeting spot and parking information in your booking confirmation.

Ages & Requirements

  1. All ages and skill levels welcome. Malibu Surf Coach has taught students as young as 3 and adults well into their 70s.
  2. No prior surfing experience and no swimming ability required.
  3. Groups can range from 1 to 8 people. Groups of 5 or more automatically include a second instructor. For groups of 9 or more, get in touch to arrange a custom session.
