FAQs
How challenging is this tour
The ocean kayaking portion can involve wind, swell, and dynamic conditions, and the snorkeling takes place in cold, open water. You should be a strong swimmer, comfortable in the ocean, and in good physical condition.
Do I need prior kayaking or snorkeling experience?
Prior kayaking experience is recommended, but not required—your guide will give you a safety briefing and basic paddling tips. Snorkeling experience is not required, but you do need to be a strong, confident swimmer and comfortable wearing a mask, snorkel, and fins in ocean conditions.
How cold is the water? Will I be warm enough?
The Pacific Ocean here stays cold year-round—typically in the 50s °F (10–13 °C). We provide wetsuits and all necessary gear to keep you comfortable and protected during the snorkeling portion.
What kind of marine life might we see?
While sightings vary, snorkelers often see crabs, anemones, rockfish, kelp forests, and other nearshore marine life. From the kayak, you may see harbor seals, sea birds, and occasionally whales or porpoises in the distance.
Should I bring my camera?
It's best to leave the camera behind unless it is rated for use in and around water. Our guides will be sure to snap some photos of you while you’re out on your tour as well.
Should I tip my guide?
Tipping is always appreciated and a great way to recognize your guide’s hard work. Guiding is part of the service industry, and if your guide provides a safe, informative, and enjoyable experience, a tip is a meaningful way to say thank you.
