Description

Campervan Rentals in Phoenix, Arizona

Trade the desert heat of the city for the wide-open desert beyond it. These fully-outfitted campervans are built for real adventure — each one stocked with a complete kitchen, comfortable sleeping setup, and everything you need to explore Arizona and the Southwest without the hassle of packing and unpacking every night. With hundreds of five-star reviews and thousands of road trips under their belt since 2015, this fleet is ready to take you into some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country.

Phoenix puts you squarely in the heart of the American Southwest — and the roads out of it go somewhere remarkable in every direction. Sedona's red rock formations are under 2 hours north. The Grand Canyon's South Rim is just over 3 hours away. Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell are about 4 hours northeast — a landscape so surreal it barely looks real. Saguaro National Park flanks Tucson about 2 hours south, and the stark beauty of White Sands National Monument is a 4.5-hour drive east. For longer trips, the Utah national parks, Las Vegas, and the California coast are all reachable. With warm winters and mild spring and fall conditions, Phoenix is an ideal base for a desert road trip almost any time of year. Travel is permitted anywhere in the continental US and Canada.

Three van models are available, each built for a different kind of traveler:

The Smalls is a compact converted cargo van (Ram ProMaster City) — fuel-efficient at 21 city / 28 highway MPG, easy to park anywhere, and perfect for solo travelers or couples who want simplicity and value. The innovative pull-out drawer system puts the kitchen and storage right at your fingertips, and the bed is the longest in the fleet despite the small footprint.

The OG is the original full-size build (Ram ProMaster 136" high-roof) — the van that defined the fleet. It has a 6'2" interior standing height, a fixed queen memory foam bed (no nightly conversion), a built-in refrigerator powered by a solar-assisted secondary battery, and a fully-stocked kitchen. Every OG has its own unique custom color palette and backsplash design. Best for couples or pairs of friends who want a step up in comfort.

The Squad is the four-person van (Ram ProMaster 136" high-roof) — with DOT-approved seating for 4, a log cabin interior, and a Roofnest rooftop tent that deploys in under a minute to sleep two more. It's the van for families, two couples, or any group that wants to travel together in one vehicle without anyone on the ground. Kitchen is stocked for four.

All vans are 2018 or newer, automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, and come ready to roll from the moment you turn the key. The pickup process is fully contactless — paperwork and your video walkthrough are completed digitally a few days before arrival so pickup is fast and stress-free.

FAQs

What are your hours of operation?

Campervan pick-up & drop-off is available 9:00am – 4:00pm, 7 days a week.

Customer service is open Monday – Saturday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. Closed on Sundays.

We’re always free to answer questions by phone or email during these hours, but we’re not always on site. Our offices are close to some pretty amazing public lands, and we like to get out and enjoy them too.

Please set up an appointment if you’d like to scope out our vans or chat in person before booking.

Campervan rental pickups and dropoffs are by appointment only.

Closed on 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day

When can I pick up my campervan?

Pickup begins at 11:00am on your scheduled start date, and you’re welcome to arrive anytime after that. You’ll set a pickup appointment when you book so everything runs smoothly and you can get settled before heading out.

We know travel plans can shift with flights and weather. If anything changes, just let us know and we’ll do our best to work with you.

When can I drop off my campervan?

Drop-off is anytime before 3:00pm on your scheduled return date. We’ll confirm a drop-off window with you so the handoff is smooth and stress-free.

Returns after 3:00pm will be charged an additional fee. However, if you’re running behind, just let us know as soon as you can and we’ll do our best to help.

Are all the vans equipped with Bluetooth?

Yes! All of our vans have Bluetooth connectivity. This means that you can stream your music directly from your phone. Our vans also come equipped with an auxiliary cable so you can plug into the port too.

Do you offer one-way rentals?

Heck yes! One-way rentals are a great way to see the American West without backtracking. Since we have offices in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Denver, your options are pretty epic.

Generally, we charge a $350 relocation fee if you drop off your campervan at a different location. Season and demand in each market may influence the cost of a one-way rental.

Contact us to discuss your one-way campervan rental, and we’ll talk shop about pricing and potential itineraries. All one-way trips are subject to availability.

Please note that if you book a one-way reservation and cancel at any time, no refunds of your deposit will be issued.

Campervan Add-Ons are not available for one-way rentals. Sleeping bags are the only exception.

What does it cost to rent a Campervan?

Here at Native Campervans, we offer some of the most inclusive packages in the industry with no additional costs. Because nothing kills the buzz of a beautiful vacation like crazy, unexpected fees. Rates vary based upon the campervan model, seasonality, and the longevity of your trip.

Included with every rental package:

Basic Insurance Coverage. You are covered for 3rd Party liability and property damage at state minimum levels

FREE Extra Drivers. Add additional drivers to your booking at no extra cost.

FREE Cooking Essentials. Don’t worry about getting the essentials. From cutting boards to cooking equipment and dish scrubbers we got you covered (see What equipment comes in the campervan?).

FREE Bedding. No need to lug your own pillows or sheet-set. Every rental comes with a set of sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and a top-of-the-line Rumpl camping blanket.

FREE Camping Chairs. Camp comfortably outside without having to buy or bring your own equipment. We’ve got you covered.

What is my mileage limit?

Technically, the sky’s the limit. You can take your campervan rental anywhere in the US or Canada without penalty. We offer two flexible mileage options designed to fit your journey:

  • 100 Miles Prepaid Per Day: $28/day. Perfect for shorter trips or travelers staying closer to home. If you go over, no worries—excess miles are just $0.28 per mile. Plus, if you don’t use all your prepaid miles, we’ll refund the difference to ensure you get the most competitive rate.
  • Unlimited Mileage: $55/day. The ideal choice for those ready to roam far and wide without keeping track.

Choose your mileage package when you book to keep things simple and stress-free. Not sure which option is best? We’re happy to help you find the perfect fit and even share a few road trip ideas to inspire your adventure!

How is mileage calculated and what happens if I go over?

Your trip’s base mileage is determined by the number of days in your reservation. We don’t keep track of how or where you use those miles, we simply divide the miles driven by the number of days you rented the van. If you’ve gone over the allotted mileage for the prepaid package, we charge $0.28 for every additional mile. For bigger trips, unlimited miles lets you roam without limits.

How do mileage packages work?

We believe your adventure should be about enjoying the journey, not worrying about mileage. That’s why we guarantee you’ll always be placed in the most affordable mileage package at the end of your trip.

If you don’t use all your prepaid miles, we’ll refund the difference to ensure you get the best rate

What is the prep fee?

The preparation fee is charged on all rentals. It covers the cost of cleaning your van, ensuring it is fresh and ready for your epic adventure!

Additionally, the fee covers the essential amenities and services to make your campervan experience seamless. This includes bedding, kitchenware, camp chairs, and more, so you can focus on enjoying the great outdoors.

Are there any travel duration/destination restrictions?

You can rent a campervan from us as long as you’d like, and take it anywhere in the US or Canada without additional fees (with a couple of exclusions).

Our no gos:

Off-roading is not allowed in our vehicles. We’re cool with you taking our vans on well-maintained gravel roads (Joshua Tree anyone?), but please use your best judgment. Vehicle size and clearance and weather conditions should always be taken into consideration when driving on an unpaved road.

Can I go to Burning Man in my Campervan rental?

Yes, we do allow our vans to travel to Burning Man. However, due to the unique challenges posed by the Playa Dust and the extensive cleaning required post-trip, there is a $1,500 fee associated with taking our vans to Burning Man.

What happens if a van is taken to Burning Man without prior consent?

If we discover evidence that one of our vans has been taken to Burning Man without initial consent, customers will incur a fee of $2,000 or more, reflecting the additional costs and potential damages associated with this unauthorized use.

What is the weight capacity of your rooftop tents?

Our Roofnest Roof Top Tents hold up to 650 LBS.

Do I need an international driver's licence?

It depends. We do not require an international driver’s license to rent our campervans, as long as the license from your home country is in English. If your license is not in English, then an international driver’s license is required. Additionally, if you would like to purchase the Supplemental Liability Insurance, you will be required to have an international driver’s license.

Does my own car insurance or credit card cover me while renting the Campervan?

Our campervans are considered Class B Recreational Vehicles or Motorhomes, and therefore, if you have a US or Canadian driver’s license, your personal auto insurance or credit card insurance that provides coverage for traditional rental vehicles, may not cover you for our campervans. We recommend you give your provider a call and check your coverage prior to picking up your campervan.

If you decline our CDW Waiver and choose to use your own insurance you are responsible for any and all damage to the vehicle and accept full liability until your return has been documented. our credit card will be charged for the cost of any and all damages upon return, and you will need to file a claim through your own insurance company for reimbursement.

In our experience, we have found that most auto insurance providers and credit cards do not cover you for Class B Recreational Vehicles.

Am I insured for 3rd party injury or damage?

Your daily rental rate includes 3rd party minimum liability coverage set by the individual state where your rental pickup is. If your personal insurance does not provide liability coverage to $1,000,000 for Class B Recreational Vehicles, you can purchase it through our Insurance Provider for $14.95/day.

What is your roadside assistance policy?

We know stuff happens, but a dead battery or flat tire doesn’t have to derail your adventure. If you have a roadside issue, please call or text 877-550-5335 and selecting Extension 3 a detailed message with the issue you’re facing. Include your name and the campervan’s name found on the passenger door.

If it’s a vehicle-related issue after 6 pm please be aware that most mechanics are not open. We advise you to find a safe place to park for the evening, and we will assist you shortly after 8:30 am. For true medical emergencies please dial 9-1-1.

Are the vans 4WD or AWD?

Neither. They are all front-wheel drive and come with all season tires.

Where can I camp in my van?

Oh man, so many places. That’s the beauty of camping in a van. We’re partial to designated campsites on public lands, but you’re welcome to take them to RV parks and commercial campsites that are convenient to your points of interest.

The West is full of amazing national, state, and regional parks, so the possibilities are pretty much endless.

When should I reserve my campervan?

Our summer campervan rentals book up fast, so don’t procrastinate during peak season. We suggest making your reservation at least a few weeks in advance, but you can always lock it down months ahead.

Can I take the Campervan out of state?

Please do. Renting a campervan in Colorado, Utah, or Nevada comes with big perks. Bordering states are packed with national parks and fun things to do. Check out Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, or the Grand Canyon. We don’t mind.

We never charge fees for crossing state lines or venturing into Canada.

Can I make changes to my reservation?

Yes, as long as there is availability you are free to make changes to your reservations at no additional charge. The one exception, however, is changing your pickup date on the day of your scheduled pickup.

Are pets allowed?

Absolutely! We love our four-legged friends and know that dogs are always up for an adventure.

Please ensure that your furry friend does not chew, scratch, or soil the interior of the van. The $100 pet fee covers cleanup from shedding and regular, good doggy behavior. If your pet throws a party in the van, we’ll have to add on additional cleaning and upholstery repair fees.

Unfortunately, we only permit dogs in our vans. No other animals are allowed.

Which vans can accommodate car/booster seats?

The Squad: The two rear back seats in the Squad have a “Lower Anchors And Tethers For Children” (LATCH) Restraint System. The LATCH system has three vehicle anchor points for installing LATCH equipped child seats. There are two lower anchorages located at the back of the seat cushion where it meets the seatback and one top tether anchorage located behind the seating position. These anchorages are used to install LATCH-equipped child seats without using the vehicle’s seat belts. They are DOT approved and can fit any child or booster seat.

What is the cooler capacity?

The Biggie: Our newest and most advanced campervan features a built-in refrigerator and freezer combo that runs 24/7—whether you’re driving through the desert or parked under the stars. Powered by a high-capacity auxiliary battery and off-grid system, it keeps your food fresh and drinks cold without missing a beat.

The OG: As our original full-size campervan, The OG includes a built-in refrigerator that stays powered day and night. With its secondary battery system and solar assist, you can rest easy knowing your meals and beverages are kept perfectly chilled throughout your trip.

The Squad: If you’re road tripping with your entire crew, you’re going to need plenty of. . . soda. That’s why we’ve outfitted The Squad with a Yeti Tundra 65. It’s the finest cooler on the market and holds up to 42 cans (we recommend bringing some camp food as well).

The Smalls: Our smaller campervans come with a soft-sided cooler that wiggles between your luggage and other gear more easily, and holds up to 24 cans. Depending on the season, you should plan to restock your ice every 24-48 hours.

Do your vans have toilets or showers?

Not standard. Pretty much every campsite will have restrooms, and many of the developed ones even have showers.

If you want more independence, the Biggie Campervan offers an optional compostable toilet. It’s great for off-grid spots or when you’d rather not leave the warmth of the van at night.

How long does the onboarding / drop-off process take?

Since all onboardings, signature grabs, and video tours of the campers are conducted a few days prior to your scheduled arrival, pick-up is seamless. We’ll have the campervan parked outside with keys in a designated lockbox so more time can be spent on the road.

If you have questions about the van or your trip, this is a great chance to chat with a local team member face to face.

Van dropoff is super quick. We’ll have you in and out in about 10 minutes, but feel free to stick around for a few minutes and tell us all about your trip. If you have a plane to catch, but still want to share your experience, you can always write us later. Please remember that rentals need to be back to the office by 11:00am unless you purchased the late drop-off option.

What if my flight is delayed and I can't make it on time?

Campervan pick-ups are scheduled between 1:00pm – 4:00pm. If you are unable to make this window, we’ll reschedule your appointment for the following morning. There is a $75 fee for missed pick-up appointments.

We understand that some things are out of your hands, and will do our best to accommodate you. Update us as soon as you have word of travel delays so we can make arrangements for your pickup.

Travel is full of variables, so don’t cut it close. Give yourself plenty of buffer when booking flights and taking public transportation. If everything goes swimmingly, we recommend exploring our awesome hometown with your free time.

Do I need prior experience driving or living in a campervan?

No experience needed. All vans are automatic transmission and drive like a standard cargo van or large SUV. Before your trip, you'll receive a detailed video walkthrough of your specific van covering every system — kitchen, sleeping setup, water, power, and the vehicle itself — so you feel completely prepared before you even show up.

What's included with The Smalls?

The Smalls is a converted Ram ProMaster City — 15 ft (4.6 m) long, seats 2, sleeps 2. It gets 21 city / 28 highway MPG, making it the most fuel-efficient van in the fleet. The pull-out drawer kitchen system includes a single-burner butane camp stove and a soft-sided 24-can cooler (plan to restock ice every 24–48 hours — there is no built-in refrigerator). The bed is 6 ft x 4 ft (1.83 m x 1.22 m) — the longest in the fleet despite the compact footprint. Storage includes a back drawer (40 in x 20 in x 14 in / 102 x 51 x 36 cm) and central storage (46 in x 17 in x 15 in / 117 x 43 x 38 cm).

What's included with the OG?

The OG is a Ram ProMaster 136" high-roof — seats 2, sleeps 2, with a 6'2" (1.88 m) interior standing height and 13 city / 18 highway MPG. It has a built-in refrigerator with a secondary battery system and solar assist, so it runs 24/7 whether you're driving or parked off-grid — no ice needed. The kitchen includes a propane dual-burner stovetop, sink with faucet, and 6–7 gallon (23–26 L) fresh and gray water tanks. The fixed queen bed (6 ft x 4'8" / 1.83 m x 1.42 m) requires no nightly conversion. Storage includes a large garage area (72 in x 56 in x 30 in / 183 x 142 x 76 cm) and bulkhead drawers. An outdoor cook table is included. Each OG has its own unique custom color palette and backsplash — no two are exactly alike. Note that specific layout, window configuration, and stovetop type may vary slightly between individual vans.

What's included with The Squad?

The Squad is a Ram ProMaster 136" high-roof — seats 4, sleeps 4, with a 5'2" (1.57 m) interior standing height. The kitchen is stocked for four with a propane dual-burner stovetop and 5-gallon (19 L) water jug. Two people sleep on the queen memory foam mattress inside; two more sleep in the included Roofnest rooftop tent (deploys in under a minute, fully waterproof and insulated, 88 in x 58 in / 224 x 147 cm), with bedding for both sleeping zones. All four seats have DOT-approved seatbelts. The rear seats swivel to create a dining and living setup at camp. Inside storage: 23 in W x 38 in L x 27 in H (58 x 97 x 69 cm); kitchen storage: 90 in x 16 in (229 x 41 cm).

Cancellation Policy

*Free cancellation within 24 hours of booking.

You can cancel your campervan rental for free 30 days (or more) prior to your pick up date. We will refund your entire deposit, and be able to rent the van to someone else with proper notice. If you cancel your reservation within 30 days of your pick up date, we charge a $500 fee.

If you cancel on the day of your pick up appointment or simply do not show up, the van will have to stay on the lot and miss out on an epic adventure. Sadly, we have to charge the full rental fee for day-of cancellations and no-shows.

In order to cancel your campervan reservation (at any time), we’ll need notice in writing. An email is fine.

Please note that if you book a one-way reservation and cancel at any time, no refunds of your deposit will be issued.

We can’t offer refunds or discounts for early returns, so we suggest keeping the van for the entire length of your booking, and checking a few more boxes off your bucket list.
