Located just 40 minutes from downtown Durango near the town of Cortez, this network of hand-built singletrack has earned a global reputation for its flow, creativity, and pure fun factor. On this guided tour, a local expert takes you inside the system to find the lines, the connections, and the trails that make Phil's World so deeply beloved.
The star attraction is the Rib Cage trail: a flowing, feature-packed descent that rides like a mountain bike roller coaster with minimal effort and maximum grin. Your guide can take the group through Rib Cage once while weaving in other trails throughout the day — or, if you fall in love, you can lap it over and over. The tour is completely customized to your group's skill level and energy. No matter what direction the day takes, the outcome is virtually guaranteed: you'll leave happy.
Durango Biking Adventures provides shuttle from Durango to the Phil's World trailhead. Already have your own vehicle or planning to come directly from Cortez? Your guide can meet you at the trailhead instead.

What is Rib Cage trail like?
Rib Cage is Phil's World's signature trail — a flowing, banked descent full of natural features and rhythm sections. It has a roller-coaster quality that makes it equally exciting for intermediate and advanced riders. Lapping it multiple times is highly encouraged.
What skill level is this tour designed for?
Intermediate to expert. The trail system has something for a range of abilities, and your guide will build a route that fits your group. It is not recommended for complete beginners or those who have never ridden singletrack.
Can we customize the trails we ride?
Yes. Your guide will tailor the tour to your group's skill level and preferences, linking trails throughout Phil's World to create the best possible day.
Do I need to drive to Phil's World myself?
No. Shuttle from Durango is included. Guests who prefer to drive their own vehicle or are already in the Cortez area can meet the guide at the trailhead.
What is the maximum group size?
Up to 5 people per tour.
Is a bike rental guaranteed for last-minute bookings?
Rentals cannot be guaranteed for bookings made within 24 hours. If unavailable, you will receive a full refund for the rental portion. Bike rentals are not included in the price of the tour.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must complete and sign a waiver and pre-trip briefing before the tour. Details are in your booking confirmation.
Cancellation Policy
Customers will receive refund less $20 with a 2 week notice of cancellation. If customer cancels within less than 2 weeks, then customer will not receive a refund. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
