Description

Parrot Key Group Paddle — Key West Sunset Kayak & Paddleboard Tour

There's no better way to close out a Key West day than from the seat of a kayak or paddleboard, watching the sky turn gold over the water. This guided group eco-excursion departs nightly from the Parrot Key waterfront and takes you through the calm coastal waters of Key West right as the sun begins to set — one of the most celebrated natural shows in the Florida Keys.

You choose your craft: paddleboard or kayak. Your on-site guides will give you expert instruction before you head out, so no prior experience is necessary. Once on the water, keep your eyes open — this stretch of Key West's coastline is alive with tropical birds, fish, and diverse wildlife that come out in full force during the quiet evening hours. The group format keeps things social and safe, with a guide leading the way throughout the excursion.

Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan ahead for this one.

FAQs

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking in advance is strongly recommended, especially during peak season. Trips can and do sell out, and walk-up availability is not guaranteed.

What wildlife can I see on the Parrot Key Group Paddle?

Key West's coastal waters are teeming with life, especially in the calm of the evening. Guests regularly spot tropical birds (herons, egrets, cormorants, ospreys), schools of tropical fish, rays, and various marine life in the shallows. The mangrove-lined coastline makes for a rich and varied ecosystem to paddle through.

I've never paddleboarded or kayaked before — can I still join?

Absolutely. Your guides provide instruction on the equipment before you head out on the water. This is a beginner-friendly, group-paced excursion in calm coastal waters, making it ideal for first-timers.

What's the best time of year for the Parrot Key Group Paddle?

This sunset tour runs year-round in Key West's warm climate. Spring and fall offer particularly pleasant paddling conditions — warm water, low winds, and spectacular sunset colors.

Should I choose a kayak or paddleboard?

Both are available on-site. Kayaks offer more stability and are a great choice for beginners or those who prefer sitting. Paddleboards give you a more active experience and an elevated view of the water. Your guide can help you choose on the day.
