Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, planning a family outing, or simply looking to escape the crowds, this trip offers a completely customized day on the water tailored to your group’s pace, preferences, and sense of adventure.
You'll enjoy thrilling whitewater rapids, stunning views of West Virginia’s iconic river canyons, and the quiet beauty that comes with rafting during the less crowded times of the year. Your private group will be paired with an expert guide who will personalize the experience, sharing local knowledge, river lore, and tips to make the most of your journey.
Midway through the day, we’ll pull off the riverbank for a delicious riverside buffet lunch, featuring build-your-own sandwiches, fresh fruits, snacks, and sweet treats. It’s the perfect chance to refuel, relax, and take in the incredible surroundings.

What to Bring / Wear

  1. Secure footwear, such as old sneakers or river sandals with a heel strap (Chacos, Tevas)
  2. Swimsuit, shorts & synthetic t-shirt (No cotton!)
  3. Long-sleeve fleece tops, synthetic bottoms, wool socks, and/or wetsuits are recommended during cold weather
  4. Sunglasses with a retaining strap
  5. Personal medications (inhaler, Epi pen, heart medication)
  6. Waterproof camera or GoPro
  7. Sunscreen

Do I need prior rafting experience?

No experience is necessary! Our expert guides will provide a full safety orientation and instruction before you hit the water. We can select the appropriate section for a beginner-friendly trip.

Is it appropriate to tip our guides?

Gratuity is not included but always appreciated if you enjoyed your trip.

What should we do with our keys and valuables?

Don't bring anything you don't want to lose! Leave your valuables in your car, and we'll have a secure place to stash your keys.

Which section should I run?

The New River has 53 miles of wild river flowing through a 1,000 foot deep gorge. With everything from Class II to Class IV/V, there's a perfect section for every type of adventurer. After reserving, we'll help you select the most appriopriate section for your group's ability level and time of year.

Cancellation Policy

  1. 30 days' notice - 50% refund
  2. 3-29 days' notice: no refunds, trips may be rescheduled for guest convenience at no cost.
  3. Less than 72 hours' notice and/or No Shows: no refunds, no credit toward rescheduling.
Guests are NOT permitted to raft under the undue influence of any substance, prescription or recreational, or if they are deemed to be mentally, emotionally, or behaviorally unprepared or combative. Such situations will be subject to either the Rescheduling or Cancellation terms at the discretion of West Virginia Adventures.
