Description

Oregon Oakridge Singletrack Guided Mountain Biking & Camping - 5 Day Trip

Deep in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains lies a true gem of mountain biking—Oakridge, Oregon. Oakridge is one of only a handful of places in the world designated as a Gold-Level Ride Center by IMBA, and after a few days on these trails, you'll understand why.

Expect towering old-growth forests, creek crossings, fern-lined descents, and some of the longest, flowiest downhills in the Pacific Northwest. Each day features carefully selected routes—from riverside classics to technical ridgelines—with campsites nestled in lush forests and alongside alpine lakes. We'll ride iconic trails like Alpine, Lawler, and Dead Mountain, balancing big climbs with thrilling descents. With a support van nearby and riverside camps to relax in each evening, this is a mountain biking adventure you won't want to miss. If you’ve been dreaming of a week immersed in world-class singletrack, this is your ride.

Ages & Requirements

This trip is designed for advanced riders who are confident handling technical singletrack with roots, rocks, and exposure. You should be comfortable riding 10–20 miles per day on challenging terrain, with sustained climbs and extended descents. While there’s van support, most of the singletrack is remote and self-contained, so riders should have solid bike handling skills, experience riding in forested environments, and a decent base level of fitness.

While there’s not a specific minimum age for this trip, it’s important that all participants meet the physical requirements and are confident in this terrain. Because this is a group tour, riders should be able to keep pace and not impact the overall group experience. If you’re considering bringing a younger rider, please include their age and biking experience in your booking request form. We’re happy to assess whether the trip is a good fit or discuss the option of a private tour better suited to your family’s needs.

Itinerary

DAY 1

After an hour shuttle from Eugene we’ll arrive in Oakridge. We will begin with a shuttle to Indigo Springs and gear up for our first ride on the Middle Fork Trail. The Middle Fork is a classic Pacific Northwest river trail that has enough pedaling, roots, rocks and creek crossings to get our bikes dialed in and get warmed up for the big week ahead. Our lovely camp is situated within an oldgrowth forest on a terrace above the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. Swimming anyone? TOTAL MILEAGE: 10 miles

DAY 2

After a hearty breakfast we’ll pack up camp and get ready to ride another Oakridge classic, Young’s Rock Trail and Moon Point. This trail has a bit of everything - from tight and technical to wide open and smooth. Our camp for the next three nights is the beautiful Packard Creek Campground on the western side of Hills Creek Reservoir. This friendly destination offers a picturesque setting among tall trees, with views of the lake beyond. More swimming! TOTAL MILEAGE: 19 miles

DAY 3

Today’s ride is a guide favorite! You will be riding the Dead Mountain trail which has fun flowing descents through old-growth forest and some technical sections that make for such a great ride. Our morning ride will end with lunch in Oakridge at Greenriver park to fuel us for our afternoon ride. After lunch, we will be riding the Larison Rock Trail which delivers more PNW goodness. This day is awesome! TOTAL MILEAGE: 13 miles

DAY 4

The famous Alpine Trail is synonymous with Oakridge and that will be our main event today. While less than 15 miles, it will challenge us with close to 2,000 feet of climbing and nearly 5000 feet of downhill! Fast and smooth with just enough exposure to keep you in check, your cheeks will hurt from all the smiling when you finish this one! TOTAL MILEAGE: 17 miles

DAY 5

On our final day we’ll pack up camp shuttle to the top of the Lawler trail. Our reward is a ride that is both thrilling and beautiful! We’ll experience the classic big forest with giant moss covered trees and technical singletrack that contours along the steep terrain. We’ll enjoy a final lunch together before hitting the road back to Eugene. TOTAL MILEAGE: 12 miles

Packing List

Be sure to bring everything on this list. We have carefully developed this list to ensure your comfort on the tour regardless of the weather. If you are prepared for extreme weather, it is an adventure. If you are not prepared it can be a serious problem. We recommend the layering system, including a wicking or long underwear layer, an insulating layer and a weather barrier for wind and rain. This list reflects that philosophy. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable so be sure to bring all the warm clothing and rain gear listed!

HOW TO PACK: The bulk of your gear and clothing will ride in the Western Spirit support vehicle (preferably in a large duffle bag) and will not be accessible during the day.

For this trip, you will need a riding pack and optional day bag:

Your riding pack may be a hydration pack, but needs to carry 2-3 liters of water, rain gear, other warm clothing, and food for the day. You may be away from camp and the support vehicle all day and need to be self-sufficient.

A small day bag is optional and may be used to store things you’d rather not ride with, but would like to have access to during the day. This day-pack will remain with the support vehicle and may not be accessible, depending on the day.
