Northfork Whitewater Adventure - Class III River Rafting in Cody, WY

Get off the beaten path and experience one of Wyoming’s most spectacular stretches of river on this half-day whitewater rafting trip down the Northfork of the Shoshone River. For those seeking a bigger dose of adventure and wilderness, the Northfork Whitewater Adventure is an unforgettable half-day journey through one of Wyoming’s most beautiful and untamed rivers.

Tucked into the eastern gateway of Yellowstone National Park, the Northfork is wild, scenic, and full of surprises. This remote canyon section delivers exciting Class II–III+ rapids framed by rugged cliffs, dense forests, and some of the best wildlife viewing in the region. When it comes to white water rafting near Cody, Wyoming, this section of the Shoshone River has the deepest wilderness feel.
The Northfork is a local favorite among Wyoming river trips for its big wilderness feel and non-stop action. The Northfork of the Shoshone offers a more remote setting than the main Shoshone, with narrower canyon walls and faster currents that will keep your adrenaline high. You’ll paddle through punchy wave trains and dynamic drops as the river weaves through volcanic rock formations shaped by millennia of geological activity. Between rapids, keep an eye out for bighorn sheep clinging to canyon walls, mule deer grazing the riverbanks, and the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead.
This trip is about more than just the whitewater—it’s serend mountain beauty makes it a true Wyoming rafting gem.  After your river adventure, you'll be treated to a hearty, full-course meal to celebrate your run and refuel for the rest of your day.

What kind of rapids are on the Northfork?

You’ll encounter exciting Class II to Class III+ rapids on this stretch of the river. These are punchier and more technical than the family float through Redrock Canyon and the Lower Shoshone, offering the most exciting white water rafting Cody, Wyoming has to offer without needing prior experience.

What kind of wildlife might we see?

The Northfork of the Shoshone River is known for its rich wildlife. It’s not uncommon to see bighorn sheep, mule deer, elk, and even bald eagles. That’s part of what makes this one of the most scenic and memorable Wyoming river trips.

We recommend leaving valuables behind, as your gear can get wet or lost. Some guests bring waterproof action cameras with straps, but for most people, enjoying the ride hands-free is best.

We take many non-swimmers on our trips every year. We provide each passenger with a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket and require that it be worn at all times while on the water.
