FAQs
Do I need prior ice climbing experience?
Yes. Multi-pitch ice climbing trips require previous ice climbing experience. These outings are not suitable for first-time ice climbers. Guests should be comfortable climbing off the ground in winter conditions.
Is this a guided climb or an instructional course?
It can be either. Your day may be treated as a purely guided multi-pitch ascent or focused as an instructional clinic, covering systems, transitions, and technique on multi-pitch ice routes. The focus is tailored to your goals and experience.
Where will we climb?
Climbing takes place in the Wasatch Range or Uinta Mountains, with specific routes selected based on current ice conditions, weather, and access. Final locations are confirmed prior to the trip.
What time of year is this trip available?
This trip is available December through February, when ice conditions are typically most reliable in Northern Utah. Early-season trips may involve snowmobile access in the Uinta Mountains.
How physically demanding is this trip?
Multi-pitch ice climbing is physically and mentally demanding. Guests should be prepared for sustained climbing, cold temperatures, and a full day in winter alpine environments.
