Description

Miami Mangrove Tunnel Clear Kayak Tour —  North Miami Beach

Escape the city and discover a hidden side of Miami on a guided clear kayak adventure through the breathtaking mangrove tunnels of East Greynolds Park. Unlike any tour available from the beach, this experience puts you inside Miami's coastal ecosystem — gliding through towering mangrove tunnels and winding mazes in a 100% transparent kayak that lets you see straight into the underwater world beneath your feet.

Launching from the waters of East Greynolds Park in North Miami Beach, your local guide leads your group through a sequence of protected waterways along the Oleta River State Park corridor. As you paddle through the natural canals, the overhead mangrove canopy forms an otherworldly tunnel, while the crystal-clear hull reveals fish, rays, crabs, and aquatic plant life drifting below. Upon exiting the main tunnels, you enter a stunning open maze of mangroves — a sanctuary teeming with marine life in the shallow, glassy waters.

This is a small-group shared tour, meaning you'll paddle alongside fellow adventurers guided by a knowledgeable local. Depending on group abilities, your guide may find a suitable stopping point to get out of the kayaks for a short break.

FAQs

What wildlife can I see while kayaking through Miami's mangroves?

Miami's mangrove ecosystem is incredibly biodiverse. Common sightings include rays, tropical fish, iguanas, and mangrove tree crabs. Depending on the season, you may also spot manatees (particularly in summer), dolphins, and a wide variety of coastal birds including great blue herons, great white egrets, ibises, pelicans, vultures, osprey, and cormorants. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but your guide knows the best spots to look.

When is the best time to kayak in Miami's mangroves?

The tour runs year-round. Morning tours are particularly popular — reviewers consistently note calmer water, better lighting for photography, and a quieter experience. Manatees are most commonly seen in the summer months. Wildlife is active throughout the year, though early morning paddles generally offer the most sightings.

I've never kayaked before — can I still join the kayaking tour?

Absolutely. This tour is suitable for all experience levels, including first-timers. Your guide will walk you through the basics before you hit the water, and will paddle at a pace that's comfortable for your group. The waterways are calm and protected, making this an ideal introduction to kayaking.

What are the weight restrictions for the kayaks?

Individual paddlers cannot exceed 250 lbs (113 kg). Two paddlers sharing a kayak cannot exceed a combined weight of 425 lbs (193 kg). These are manufacturer restrictions for the clear kayaks and apply to all guests.

Do I need to arrive early?

Yes — please arrive at East Greynolds Park at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour start time. Arriving late will result in being marked as a no-show, with no refund or reschedule available.

Can I bring my phone or a camera on the water?

Yes! A waterproof case or waterproof camera is strongly recommended. The company is not responsible for any damaged or lost items.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?

Tours only cancel for genuinely unsafe conditions — typically sustained winds above 15 mph or lightning in the area. Light rain is not a cancellation reason. If the outfitter cancels the tour, you'll receive a full refund, the option to reschedule, or a gift certificate. For guest-initiated cancellations, trip protection must be purchased in advance.

What is the best time of year to kayak in Miami?

Miami's subtropical climate means kayaking is enjoyable year-round. Late fall through spring (November–April) offers the most comfortable temperatures and calmer water conditions. Summer months bring higher heat and humidity but also the best chance of spotting manatees.

What items are prohibited on the tour?

Please leave the following behind: disposable containers (cans, plastic, glass, foam, or paper), alcoholic beverages, oil-based sunscreens or lotions, tobacco products, and audio speakers.

Are the kayaks tandem or solo?

All kayaks are tandem (built for 2 paddlers). For solo paddlers or odd-numbered groups, seats can be removed to accommodate a single paddler in one kayak. The same 250 lbs (113 kg) per-person weight limit still applies.

Is wildlife sighting guaranteed?

No — wildlife encounters are never guaranteed, as these are wild animals in their natural habitat. That said, guides are trained and knowledgeable about the best areas to spot local species, maximizing your chances of an encounter.

What physical requirements should I be aware of?

Guests must have upper body mobility and the ability to walk up and down steps to enter and exit kayaks. All guests must be able to paddle without assistance and must stay with the group at all times.

Cancellation Policy

  • All Sales Final: Once booked, all sales are final, and no cancellations are permitted unless specified otherwise. Trip protection is an available add on option for more flexibility.

  • Late Policy: Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour! If you arrive later than your scheduled tour time you will be considered a NO SHOW and won’t be able to receive a refund OR reschedule your tour.

  • Unsafe Weather: In the event of unsafe weather, we offer the option to reschedule or provide a full refund.
