Step aboard a private luxury catamaran for an unforgettable day exploring the waters around Icacos Island. This all-inclusive charter is designed for those who want to combine adventure and relaxation, giving you the chance to snorkel over colorful coral reefs, swim in crystal-clear turquoise water, or simply lounge on deck with a tropical drink in hand. Beginners can feel confident with a brief tutorial from the crew, while more experienced snorkelers can dive right in to explore at their own rhythm.
After snorkeling, the boat will anchor off the pristine white sand beaches of Icacos, where you can relax, swim, or float in calm waters. A fresh, all-inclusive lunch of sandwiches, salads, fruit, and snacks is served alongside refreshing tropical drinks, allowing you to refuel and soak up the sun. With attentive service and the beauty of Icacos all around, this private charter blends unforgettable snorkeling with the ultimate day at sea.

FAQs

How do you contribute to the conservation of Puerto Rico and Icacos?

We are very thankful for our amazingly beautiful marine environment and we are committed to protecting it. Please avoid touching, stepping on coral reefs or taking any sea life that could potentially put in danger the marine ecosystem around the island.

We would like to remind our guests that these environmentally sensitive areas while protected are still exposed to many threats. In an effort to preserve and protect them we encourage you to use long sleeve performance shirts or "rash guards" as well as ball caps or hats for sun protection rather than sunscreen lotion. Spray or aerosol type sunscreen is not allowed.

Marine conservation and preservation are paramount along with the safety and enjoyment of our guests. For these reasons, we would like to remind our guests that most of the beautiful spots we visit on our boat tours in Puerto Rico are protected as well as all the marine life you will see and enjoy. We encourage each one of our visitors to enjoy this blissful experience while being mindful and respectful of our marine life. Please avoid touching, stepping on or removing anything from the sea (i.e. corals, starfish, seashells).

What marine life can I see when snorkeling at Icacos, Puerto Rico’s reefs?

Snorkeling around Icacos Island gives you a chance to see a colorful mix of Caribbean reef life. The shallow reefs are home to schools of sergeant majors, blue tang, parrotfish, damselfish, and wrasses. You’ll often spot angel fish, butterflyfish, and trumpetfish weaving through the coral. Look closely and you might see conch, starfish, sea cucumbers, and urchins along the sandy bottom. Larger sightings can include stingrays, barracuda, and the occasional sea turtle cruising by. The reefs are mostly made up of elkhorn and brain corals, with lots of sea fans swaying in the current, making Icacos one of Puerto Rico’s most popular snorkeling spots.

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’

Can I snorkel with a mustache or beard?

You can snorkel with a beard or mustache but it can prevent a tight seal between the mask and your face, which may cause water to leak in. It is often recommended to shave at least your mustache before diving. If you’d prefer not to shave your mustache, please bring petroleum jelly or chapstick with you. If you coat your mustache in that chapstick or jelly, it may be able to seal and prevent water from getting in.

Can I wear glasses or contacts while snorkeling?

Glasses cannot be worn while snorkeling, but contacts are perfectly fine and recommended for the best experience. Prescription masks are not available for rent, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Additionally, there is an automatic correction effect that occurs underwater due to light refraction, making things appear clearer, but contacts or a personal prescription mask will provide the best visibility.

What are some Snorkel Safety 101 tips?

TripOutside recommends knowing how to swim before snorkeling, but participation is ultimately up to you and the tour operator's discretion.

  • Check ocean conditions and only snorkel at lifeguarded beaches. The chance of rescue is much higher with trained lifeguards present.
  • Never snorkel alone. Always bring a buddy. Beginners should consider booking a guided tour.
  • Rest after flying. Flying can dehydrate and exhaust you—give your body at least a day to acclimate before snorkeling.
  • Test your gear on land or in a pool first. Make sure your mask fits snugly, you can breathe through the snorkel, and you know how to clear water if needed.
  • Practice with fins. You should be able to scissor kick while swimming. Avoid doggie paddling—it won’t get you far.
  • Don’t wear fins on land. Walk into the water, get past the waves, then put your fins on. Remove them before exiting.
  • Take it slow. Breathe calmly, relax, and avoid overexertion to keep your heart rate low.
  • Know your limits. If you’re feeling tired, anxious, or unsure about conditions, skip the snorkel session. Panic in the water is dangerous.
  • Stay aware of currents and tides. Even experienced swimmers can get pulled out. Know how to identify rip currents and how to escape them (swim parallel to shore).

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made 7 days before the scheduled tour date are fully refundable.

  • Cancellations made within 7 days from the scheduled departure date are non-refundable.

  • No-shows and late arrivals for the time the tour is scheduled to begin WILL BE CHARGED FULL PRICE.

  • Same day cancellations are considered a no-show and are non-refundable without any exceptions.

  • Customers will be given a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • All marine activities are subject to water conditions. Please call a day prior for an update on cancellations or change of destination due to water conditions as per the captain’s discretion. These decisions can also be announced at check-in.

  • If we cancel a tour due to weather or sea conditions, you will not be charged. You will have the option to reschedule for the next available space. Our captain will make the final decision as to weather conditions. Remember, a few passing rain showers are normal in the tropics and rain is more likely in the center of the island and to the west. We monitor weather reports constantly, and especially the conditions on the east coast. Fajardo’s weather can differ greatly from the weather in San Juan or wherever you are located.

  • Please don’t make the mistake of deciding not to come if it’s raining where you are, as you will be charged if the trip is confirmed to go out. If you have any questions about the weather conditions, please call us to be sure and we will be more than happy to assist you and go over specific details.

  • Passengers who are inebriated, hungover or who are not in conditions to board the boat, the Captain will be in his right to deny the passenger(s) boarding the vessel.

  • Passengers that don’t meet the proper requirements will not be allowed to participate and the money will be non-refundable.

  • Due to the unique nature and small size of our groups, we are forced to remain firm about our cancellation policy. Consider that on the day of the excursion we will be there, on-site, waiting and ready to serve you. Regardless of the cancellation reason, our time and fixed cost are already invested. We may have turned down other customers by holding your space.
