Description
Lower Kern Two Day Class II-IV - Overnight Kern River Whitewater Rafting
The Lower Kern Two Day Class II-IV is the ultimate in overnight white water adventure! Start your trip with Class II rapids for a great warm-up and introduction to your guide. Continuing down the river until you drop into thundering Class IV rapids; as well as calm sections in between to float and relax. The river is beautifully landscaped with cottonwoods and willows, and Indian pictographs adorn one of the canyon walls. Enjoy the starry nights, swimming rapids, cliff jumping and four substantial meals with our guides who provide you with great food and the perfect getaway. This is our most popular trip and is good for the novice and experienced alike. This trip is approximately 21 river miles.
Day 1: Learn the skills you will need from your guide as you descend into a tight gorge of polished California Granite. Swim in the calm pools, practice pulling each other in the raft, splash the other boats, cliff jump into the river! Do whatever it takes to get ready for the fast-paced whitewater that is waiting downstream. By the time you pull into camp, you may not believe us that the best Whitewater comes on Day 2! Before we tackle that, it is time to take your fun seriously at camp. Relax by the river in a chair, start a game of volleyball, throw some horseshoes or corn hole, hike upstream to swim into camp. There is no lack of activity at our riverside paradise. While you are working up a serious appetite, your guides have transformed from river runners to gourmet chefs. Dinner is always a highlight and will give you the fuel needed for a hard-charging day 2. When the evening winds down, fall asleep to the vivid stars that blanket the Kern River Valley.
