Private Rock Climbing Moab - Looking Glass Rock
Looking Glass Rock sits proudly in the desert and features one of the most spectacular arches around. It's great introduction to multi-pitch climbing with easy rock climbing, a beautiful summit and one of the coolest rappels in Moab! This dome presents a great opportunity for new climbers to learn the ins and outs of multi-pitch climbing while reaching a beautiful summit and tackling a huge rappel at the end of the climb.
We start the day with a short hike to the base of the long, sandstone rib. We'll go over multi-pitch rope systems, belaying, gear cleaning and climbing technique before launching off on our first pitch. Three pitches and 400 feet of climbing later, we arrive at the top of Looking Glass Arch.
At the summit, you’ll pause to take in expansive views of the surrounding desert and distant mountain ranges before descending via an airy rappel that drops through a small arch and into a wind-carved alcove. This longer half-day experience is well-suited for first-time climbers looking for something adventurous, as well as experienced climbers who want a classic Moab objective with expert guidance.

Do I need prior climbing or rappelling experience?
No. This tour is well-suited for first-time climbers and adventurous beginners. Your guide provides instruction and manages all technical systems throughout the climb and rappel.
How difficult is the climb?
The climbing is rated easy to moderate (5.5). While the moves are approachable, the multi-pitch format makes the experience more adventurous than single-pitch climbing.
What is a multi-pitch climb?
A multi-pitch climb is broken into multiple sections, or “pitches.” After each pitch, your guide sets up an anchor and belays each climber before continuing upward to the next section.
What should I expect on the rappell?
You’ll descend a single large rappel of approximately 120 feet. Your guide manages the safety systems, and you’ll be securely attached the entire time.
Do I need to bring my own climbing shoes?
Yes, if you have your own climbing shows, we highly recommend using them. If not, they are available to rent at checkout.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy
Groups of less than 10 people: All of your money will be refunded if you cancel prior to two weeks before your trip date. If you cancel within two weeks of your trip, but outside of 48 hours, you’ll be charged a $20/person deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your trip will not be refunded.
Groups of 10 or more people: A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. This is non-refundable, unless our guides cancel due to weather. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of the trip date.
Late Arrivals: Although our tours are private, and we will accommodate late arrivals as we can, occasionally a late arrival can cause tours later in the day and/or shuttle logistics to be affected. Because of this, we reserve the right to cancel your tour if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your scheduled reservation time. If a tour is canceled because of a late arrival, a refund will not be issued.
Weather: Full refunds are given if your guide cancels your trip due to bad weather. Our guides will make the final "go/no go" decision based on the safety of your group. If you decide to cancel because of uncomfortable weather, our standard cancellation policy will apply.
Travel Insurance: If you believe there is a chance that you will have to cancel your tour within the non-refundable 24-hour cancellation period, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance. We are not affiliated with any insurance companies, but can recommend www.travelexinsurance.com.
