DIY Island Adventure: 1.5-Hour Kayak Trip to Little Tybee Island

Ready for a little island escape? Paddle out at your own pace to Little Tybee, a wild and uninhabited barrier island just a short trip from our Alley 3 launch.

You’ll launch about an hour before low tide. Why? Because that’s the only time the beach is walkable. At high tide, the shoreline disappears beneath the waves, so this carefully timed window is your golden ticket.

When you land, the island is all yours. Wander the beach. Hunt for driftwood and seashells. Stretch out under the sun. Breathe deep and let the salt air hit reset. Just a heads-up: to protect the island’s fragile beauty, please stay off the dunes, tree-covered areas, and sandbars. These spaces are home to wildlife—and we’re just the lucky guests.

A few quick safety notes (so your adventure stays awesome):

Bring a buddy — no solo paddling allowed. Exploring’s always better with a sidekick anyway.
When you land, pull your kayak all the way up on the beach—far from the water’s edge. Tides here don’t mess around. If your kayak drifts off... well, it’s a long swim back.
No fishing from the kayak — just chill vibes, calm waters, and wild island views.

Ages and Requirements

Open to 4 years old and up, but to paddle on a single kayak, paddler must be 13 years or older.

Minimum of 2 people for this tour. Must have kayak experience. Paddling effort is required on this self guided tour.

Weight Restrictions

Tandem Kayaks have a combined weight limit of 400 lbs.
Single Kayaks have a weight limit of 250 lbs
Single Person weight limit of 250 lbs still applies for the tandem Kayak
Participants must be able to pull themselves up on the Kayak should they fall off.

FAQs

Do I need prior kayaking experience?

Basic paddling knowledge is recommended since there’s no guide. If you're new, consider practicing beforehand or choosing a calm route.

Can kids or pets join a self-guided trip?

Pets are not allowed. Children aged 4 and up are welcome, but must ride with an adult in a tandem kayak. All participants must wear a life jacket at all times.

Is it safe to go alone?

No. For safety reasons, a minimum of two paddlers is required. Solo paddling is not allowed on this self-guided tour.

Why do I need to pull the kayak far up the beach when I stop?

Because tides change quickly, and if your kayak is too close to the water, it can float away without you noticing. Always pull it well above the high tide line to avoid getting stranded.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation / Cancellation Policy

All reservations and sales are considered final and are non-refundable. This includes arriving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or marijuana. Arriving late, exceeding the weight limit, no shows, personal emergencies or personal mishaps.

If the Company has to cancel the reservation due to inclement weather or any other reason, you may reschedule or receive a refund. All cancellations are determined only by the Company!!!. Weather must be inclement at our location at your specific scheduled time to receive a refund for weather cancellation.

Once activity starts there is no refund.

Management reserves the right to cancel activity and retrieve equipment if policies are violated and no refund will be given.
