FAQs
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are only allowed on the Little Tybee Kayak Tour, and is subject to additional requirements.
We love our wet nosed friends, so here are a few safety requirements everyone must meet to participate with their puppy.
- First, you must have paddling experience to kayak with a dog and only one dog per kayak.
- The weight limit to paddle on a single kayak — one person with one dog: The puppy weight limit is 35 lbs and you must have kayak paddling experience.
- The weight limit to paddle on a tandem/double kayak — two people with one dog: The puppy weight limit is 60 lbs and at least one person must have kayak paddling experience.
- Kayaker must also meet kayak weight requirement.
In our years of experience in this business, we have found this to be safe and the best option to allow puppies to patriciate.
Do I need prior kayaking experience?
Basic paddling knowledge is recommended since there’s no guide. If you're new, consider practicing beforehand or choosing a calm route.
Why don’t your kayak tours start at the same time every day?
Because the tides change daily, and timing is everything when it comes to kayaking. We set each tour at the perfect time for that day’s tide, so you enjoy calm waters and an easier paddle. Starting at a random fixed time could mean fighting strong currents or struggling to reach the destination – and that’s no fun. By matching the tour to the tide, we make sure you get the safest, smoothest, and most enjoyable experience possible.
I can't find Alley 3. Where is it?
Follow U.S. Hwy 80 onto Tybee Island. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Jones Avenue. Continue driving south to Tybrisa Street and turn right. Follow Tybrisa street to the end. Turn right at Chatham Avenue, make an immediate left onto Alley 3 parking lot and parking is located on the left. Be sure to pay for parking, so you don’t receive a parking ticket.
If you still cannot find it, please give us a call.
What wildlife may we encounter?
Common sightings include birds, turtles, and crabs—and if we’re lucky, even dolphins. Depending on the tide and wind, some animals may be just a paddle’s length away, giving you an unforgettable close-up experience.
Is parking available? Is it free?
No. Parking fee should be paid upon parking. It's excluded from the tour cost.
Are there restrooms?
The restroom is located at Fisherman’s walk fishing pier.
Do I need to arrive early?
Please arrive early to secure a parking slot. Must arrive at least arrive 30 minutes early for parking, check-in, restroom and instruction.
Where can I park for the tour?
If Alley 3 parking is full, you can park at Fisherman’s Walk fishing pier and walk back to Alley 3 via Chatham Avenue. If both Alley 3 and Fisherman’s Walk are full, your next parking option is Inlet Avenue, located just up from Fisherman’s Walk.
Direction is also included in your conformation email and remainder email when you book your tour.
